SLFB 2024 - Pastoras (7-3) stay firm against Caribenas (7-4) and Capitalinas (3-5) surprised Gaiteras (3-6) as visitors

Pastoras de Lara (7-3) protected their honor as hosts at Napoleon Rodriguez Arena in Barquisimeto, Lara, by taking down Caribenas de Caracas (7-4), 78-71, in the first of a two-game series, while Capitalinas de Distrito Capital (3-5) surprised Gaiteras del Zulia (3-6) as visitors at Belisario Aponte Arena in Maracaibo, Zulia, with a triumph, 66-60, as part of Venezuela's Superliga Femenina de Baloncesto (SLFB) 2024.

Mariana Duran (172-PG-1993, college: Okla City) was just too much for Caribenas, as she led Pastoras with 17 points, 4 assists and 4 rebounds, while Genesis Rivera (180-G/F-1996, college: UMass) completed a double double with 12 points and 18 rebounds, adding 4 assists as well.

Meanwhile, Fabiana Hernandez (173-PG-2006) finished up with 17 points, 3 rebounds and 2 assists and Roberli Perez (G) added 10 points, a rebounds and 2 assists.

Capitalinas were able to hold of Gaiteras to earn their third win of the regular season. For the hosts, in losing efforts, Cuban Nayara Espinosa (189-C-2001) finished up with a double double of 16 points and 12 rebounds and Nohelia Chile (191-C-2002) added 11 points and 8 rebounds.
