Experienced Dominican Rep. Juan Suero (196-G-1993) put on an extraordinary performance in the last round for Piratas de la Guaira and that's him to receive a Hoops Agents Player of the Week award for round 23.
The 31-year old guard had a double-double of 29 points and 11 rebounds, while his team lost the game against Gladiadores (#7, 8-8) 103-108. Piratas maintains the 9th position in Venezuelan SPB. Piratas is a typical solid league team placed somewhere in the middle or a little bit lower in the standings. But it was their 6th lost game this season out of 13 games. Suero just recently signed at Piratas, being already a very valuable addition to the team. Suero has impressive league stats. He is league's best scorer averaging so far 21.8ppg. Suero is in league's top in assists (5th best: 4.1apg) and averages solid 61.4% FGP.

The second most remarkable performance in last round's games was another Piratas' star - young Colombian power forward Soren De Luque (200-PF-1998). De Luque impressed basketball fans with a double-double of 18 points and 10 rebounds. Bad luck as Piratas de la Guaira lost that game 103-108 to slightly higher-ranked Gladiadores (#7, 8-8). Piratas managed to keep the same 9th spot in the standings. His team lost some distance to top teams. But a 7-6 record is not bad and everything may still change. De Luque is one of the most experienced players at Piratas and similarly like Juan Suero has a reputation of one of team's most reliable players.

The third best performed player last round was American Durrell Summers (196-SF-1989) of Gladiadores de Anzoategui (#7). Summers scored 26 points and grabbed 5 rebounds. He was a key player of Gladiadores, leading his team to a 108-103 win against slightly lower-ranked Piratas (#9, 7-6). Gladiadores needs these victories very badly if they think about getting closer to top teams. Their record at this point is 8 victories and 8 lost games. Summers has a very solid season. In 11 games in Venezuela he scored 13.6ppg.

The Player of the week is selected based on efficiency calculation, but also including game result, importance of the game, if played recorded double-double/triple-double, etc.
The efficiency formula is a combination of various formulas used by different basketball organizations/leagues. We got involved many basketball scouts and journalists to assure it's accuracy.
The formula: 1.5*PTS + 3*(REB+AST+ST+BL-TO) - 2*BSAG - 4*PF + 3*PFRV + 4*(2FGPM+3FGPM) + 1.5*FTM - 3*(2FGPA-2FGPM) - 3*(3FGPA-3FGPM) - (FTA-FTM)
