SLFB 2025 - Round 1 - Caribenas crushed Capitalinas in season opener

Caribenas de Caracas crushed Capitalinas de Distrito Capital 88-36 in the season opener of Venezuela's top Women's basketball league, Superliga Femenina de Baloncesto (SLFB) 2025.

The game was held at Jose Joaquin Carrillo Arena in Caracas, D.C. Eduglatriz Castro (178-F-2004) scored 18 points, adding 7 rebounds and 6 assists, for the winning side. She got help from Lismary Garcia (164-G/F-2002) with 20 points and captain Barbara Pico (168-PG-2002) with 11 points and 7 assists. Caribenas is coached by Esteban Gonzalez.

Meanwhile, for Capitalinas, Sandri Rangel (176-F/C-2006) netted 13 points and grabbed 9 boards, while Sherika Salazar and Luisana Reyes added 4 points each for the side coached by Orlando Mirabal.

Venezuela's 2025 edition of the SLFB will be played by six franchises, including the defending champions, Pastoras de Lara, as well as Caribenas, Capitalinas, Gaiteras del Zulia and two new franchises, Marquesas de Barinas and Diosas de Guacara.

Meanwhile, other franchises such as Mineras de Cojedes and Indias de Miranda will not be part of the tournament this time.

In 2024, Pastoras defeated Caribenas 86-71 in the game for the title, played at Napoleon Rodriguez Arena in Barquisimeto.
