SLFB 2025 - Round 3 - Caribenas (6-1) and Capitalinas (3-4) complete sweeps as visitors- May 18, 2025

Caribenas de Caracas (6-1) and Capitalinas de Distrito Capital (3-4) completed sweeps as visitors in Round 3 of Venezuela's Superliga Femenina de Baloncesto (SLFB) 2025, as they were able to take down Marquesas de Barinas (3-3) and Gaiteras del Zulia (0-6), respectively.
Caribenas extended their lead at the top of the standings, by defeating Marquesas 70-32 and 75-43 at La Federacion Arena in Barinas, Barinas. In the first match, Yesimar Escudero (168-PG-2007) led the way with 13 points and 6 rebounds, Aguehil Fajardo (183-PF-1999) added a double double of 12 points and 11 rebounds, including a couple of blocks, while Eduglatriz Castro (178-F-2004) finished up with 11 points and 8 rebounds. Meanwhile, for Marquesas, Ivonny Seijas (2006) netted 11 points, grabbed 7 rebounds and handed out 4 assists. Astrid Hinojosa (174-PF-2008) led Caribenas in the second game with 16 points, 5 rebounds and 5 assists, Eduglatriz Castro added 15 points, 8 rebounds, 3 blocks and 3 assists and Aguehil Fajardo finished up with 12 points and 9 rebounds. For Marquesas, Ivonny Seijas netted 15 with 3 assists and Floranghel Garcia (155-PG-2004) added 11 points and 5 assists. Meanwhile, Capitalinas dominated Gaiteras 65-58 and then 73-64 in overtime to completed a two-game sweep over Gaiteras at Belisario Aponte Arena in Maracaibo, Zulia. Jessuana Machado (176-SF-2004) scored 20 points, grabbed 11 rebounds and blocked 3 shots to help Capitalinas in the first game, followed by Fabiana Garcia (169-PG-2006) with 14 and 4 assists. For Gaiteras, Yorgelis Zapata completed a double double with 13 points and 12 rebounds, adding 4 steals, while Fiorella Malaver and Nayara Espinosa (189-C-2001) netted 11 points each. Fabiana Garcia was the star for Capitalinas in the second game, with a double double of 19 points and 10 rebounds. Joan Ramirez (161-PG) added 15 poitns and 6 rebounds, Sandri Rangel (176-F/C-2006) added 12 points, 15 rebounds and 3 steals while Jessuana Machado finished up with 10 points, 17 rebounds, 4 assists and 4 steals. For the hosts, Yorgelis Zapata had a stellar performance with 15 points, 23 rebounds, 3 blocks and 3 steals, Nayara Espinosa added 14 points and 12 rebounds and Julieth Sivira (162-G-2003) ended with 12 points, 3 assists and 7 steals. The series between Diosas de Guacara (3-1) and Pastoras de Lara (2-2) was rescheduled and will take place next month. |
