SLFB 2025 - Round 5 - Caribenas, Diosas and Gaiteras firm at home- June 7, 2025

Caribenas de Caracas (10-1), Diosas de Guacara (7-1) and Gaiteras del Zulia (2-8) took advantage of being at home and were able to sweep their respective rivals in Round 5 of the 2025 Superliga Femenina de Baloncesto (SLFB) in Venezuela.
Caribenas didn't have it easy but were able to hold of title holders Pastoras de Lara (4-4) at Jose Joaquin Carrillo Arena in Caracas, 78-73 in the first game and then 71-57 in the second one. Eduglatriz Castro (178-F-2004) led Caribenas in the first game with a double double of 21 points and 12 rebounds, adding 4 assists. Meanwhile, Aguehil Fajardo (183-PF-1999) added 14 points and 9 rebounds, Yesimar Escudero (168-PG-2007) 12 points and 5 steals and star Waleska Perez (180-G-1994, college: Weatherford JC) finished up with 11 points, 8 rebounds, 9 assists and 4 steals. For Pastoras, Daniela Morillo-Wallen (179-SF-1995, college: Okla City) was unstoppable with 34 points, 14 rebounds and 3 steals, followed by Fabiana Hernandez (173-PG-2006) with 20 points, 6 rebounds and 5 steals and Nicole Garcia (174-SG-2001) with 10 points, 7 rebounds, 3 assists and 3 steals. In the second game, it was Barbara Pico (168-PG-2002) who led Caribenas to their victory, thanks to 20 points, 8 rebounds and 3 steals. Aguehil Fajardo added 16 points, 9 rebounds and 6 steals and Waleska Perez completed a double double with 11 points and 12 rebounds, adding 3 steals. The visitor team's top scorers were Genesis Rivera (180-G/F-1996, college: UMass) with 17 and 8 rebounda, Daniela Morillo-Wallen with 12, 13 rebounds and 5 steals and Nicole Garcia with 11 more. Meanwhile, Diosas took down Capitalinas de Distrito Capital (3-8) at Loma Linda Arena in Guacara, 78-77 and 95-69. Yosimar Corrales (184-PF-1990) was the top scorer for the hosts in the first game with 19 points, adding 8 rebounds and 3 steals. Guadalupe Diaz (163-PG-1999) added another 19 points and Yohanny Uribe finished up with 18 and 3 steals. For Capitalinas, Jessuana Machado (176-SF-2004) scored 17 and Fabiana Garcia (169-PG-2006) 12 with 6 boards. Guadalupe Diaz scored 21 in the second game, getting help from Yosimar Corrales with a double double of 16 points and 15 rebounds, along with 4 assists. Yohanny Uribe finished up with 18 points and 3 steals. For Capitalinas, Sandri Rangel (176-F/C-2006) netted 22 with 6 rebounds and Jessuana Machado added 10 with 5 rebounds and 3 assists. Gaiteras took down Marquesas de Barinas (3-7) twice at Belisario Aponte Arena in Maracaibo, 67-52 and 72-68. Danielis Ysasis (180-F-2004) was dominant in the first game with 20 points and 12 rebounds and Dayerlys Lugo added 11 with 3 steals for the hosts. Leidys Albrujas finished up with 17 points, 14 rebounds, 6 assists and 6 steals for Marquesas, followed by Floranghel Garcia (155-PG-2004) with 13, 5 rebounds and 4 assists and Ivonny Seijas (2006) with 13. In the second game, Danielis Ysasis could not be stopped and led Gaiteras with 16 points, 21 rebounds and 3 assists. Julieth Sivira (162-G-2003) added 14 points and 6 assists, Dayerlys Lugo 12 points and Nereida Villarreal (174-C) 10 points and 5 rebounds. For Marquesas, Ivonny Seijas scored 31 points and added 7 rebounds, 3 assists and 3 steals, while Evanis Sanchez ended with 13 points and 9 rebounds. |
