Pastoras de Lara (SLBF) signed 32-year old Venezuelan-Spanish international point guard Mariana Duran (172cm-1993, college: Okla City). It is actually her comeback to Barquisimeto as she has played here before. Duran played last season at U.M.F. Grindavik in Icelandic Subway League. In 14 games she had 11.6ppg, 6.5rpg, 5.9apg and 1.5spg. She helped them to make it to the cup final.
Duran has been also a member of Venezuelan international program for some years. She has regularly played for Venezuelan senior team since 2010 and previously for U18 National Team in 2009.
Duran represented Venezuela at the Olympic Games Pre-Qualifying Tournament in Medellin (Colombia) two years ago. Her stats at that event were 3 games: 8.0ppg, 4.7rpg, Assists-2(4.0apg), FGP: 25.0%, 3PT: 26.7%.
She is quite experienced player. Duran has played in four different countries on three different continents (Europe, Latin America and of course North America). She has played previously professionally in Argentina (Las Heras), Germany (Osnabrueck), Italy (Salerno, Acciaierie Valbruna Bolzano and Roseto) and Portugal (Vagos). Duran won Venezuelan LINABAFE championship title in 2011 and 2012.
The list of the past achievements is quite long as among others she was voted to Latinbasket.com All-FIBA AmeriCup Honorable Mention in 2023.
She graduated from Oklahoma City University in 2017 and it will be her ninth season as a professional player. Duran played also for Panola College for one year.
