SLFB 2025 - Round 6 - Caribenas secure spot in the playoffs, Diosas and Pastoras complete sweeps- June 14, 2025

Caribenas de Caracas (12-1) secured a spot in the SLFB 2025 playoffs by sweeping Capitalinas de Distrito Capital (3-10) in Round 6 for the regular season, 86-58 and 85-62. Meanwhile, both Diosas de Guacara (9-1) and title holders Pastoras de Lara (6-4) completed two-game sweeps in their respective series.
In the first match (86-58), Caribenas dominated thanks to Aguehil Fajardo (183-PF-1999), who netted 23 points and grabbed 11 rebounds while getting help from the spectacular Waleska Perez (180-G-1994, college: Weatherford JC), who finished up with 17 points, 15 rebounds and 4 assists. Eduglatriz Castro (178-F-2004) added 12 points and Astrid Hinojosa (174-PF-2008) 11 more. For Capitalinas, Fabiana Garcia (169-PG-2006) scored 24, grabbed 6 rebounds and blocked 3 shots, while Joan Ramirez (161-PG) added 9 points and 7 boards. In the second game (85-62), it was Astrid Hinojosa who led the scoring with 17 points, adding 8 rebounds and 3 steals. Aguehil Fajardo added another double double with 17 points and 10 rebounds, as well as 3 assists and 3 steals. Barbara Pico (168-PG-2002) finished up with 12 points, 3 assists and 5 steals. For Capitalinas, Fabiana Garcia ended with 18 points, 6 rebounds and 3 steals, Jessuana Machado (176-SF-2004) added 10 points and 7 rebounds and both Ashley Guerrero and Diadenis Vitrago (160-PG-1998) scored 10 points. Diosas had no issues to take down Gaiteras del Zulia (2-10) at Loma Linda Arena in Guacara, Carabobo. The first game was 30-point blowout (79-49). Guadalupe Diaz (163-PG-1999) scored 15 points, Vanessa Reyes (2007) added 14 with 5 rebounds and a couple of blocks, Yolimar Martinez (184-C-1995) completed a double double of 12 points and 15 rebounds, Nohelia Chile (191-C-2002) scored 11 with 2 blocks and Leudys Quevedo (183-F/C-1998) 11 with 7 rebounds. For Gaiteras, Danielis Ysasis (180-F-2004) scored 13 points and grabbed 14 rebounds, Fabiola Morales followed her with 13 more and 7 rebounds and Yorkelly Weir added 11. Diosas also dominated in the second game, 69-48. This time, Yohanny Uribe netted 13 points with 4 assists and 4 steals, Guadalupe Diaz followed her with 12 points and 7 assists and Nohelia Chile with 10 points and 7 rebounds. For Gaiteras, Danielis Ysasis scored 13 and grabbed 11 boards, Julieth Sivira (162-G-2003) added 13 and Fabiola Morales 10. Pastoras traveled to Barinas and defeated Marquesas de Barinas (3-9), 85-36 and 81-61. Fabiana Hernandez (173-PG-2006) led Pastoras in the first game with 22, while recent signing Mariana Duran (172-PG-1993, college: Okla City) supported them with 14 points, 6 rebounds and 4 assists. For Marquesas, Ivonny Seijas (2006) finished up with 22 points and 6 rebounds and Leidys Albrujas added 7. Genesis Rivera (180-G/F-1996, college: UMass) was the start for the visitors in the second game, thanks to a 20 points, 18 rebounds, 3 steals and 2 blocks performance. Another member of Venezuela's Senior NT, Daniela Morillo-Wallen (179-SF-1995, college: Okla City), added a double double with 17 points, 10 rebounds, 6 assists and 4 steals. Nicole Garcia (174-SG-2001) followed them with 13 points, 5 rebounds and 3 recovered balls. Ivonny Seijas was the shining start for the hosts with 27 points, 6 rebounds, 7 assists and 9 steals. Leidys Albrujas added 22 points, 6 rebounds, 4 assists and 6 steals. |
