SLFB 2025 - Round 7 - Caribenas, Pastoras and Capitalinas dominate their series

Caribenas de Caracas (14-1), Pastoras de Lara (8-4) and Capitalinas de Distrito Capital (5-10) completed two game sweeps in their respective series with dominant performances in Round 7 of Venezuela's Superliga Femenina de Baloncesto (SLFB) 2025.

Caribenas defeated Diosas de Guacara (9-3) twice, first as hosts in Caracas, 78-44, and then in Guacara as visitors, 71-69.

In the first game, Eduglatriz Castro (178-F-2004) netted 20 points for the winners, followed by Aguehil Fajardo (183-PF-1999) with a double double of 18 points and 10 rebounds and by Astrid Hinojosa (174-PF-2008) with 11 points. For Diosas, Nohelia Chile (191-C-2002) netted 9 points and grabbed 7 rebounds and Guadalupe Diaz (163-PG-1999) added 8 points.

In the second game, Barbara Pico (168-PG-2002) led Caribenas with 18 points, 6 rebounds and 5 assists, Eduglatriz Castro added 16 points and 6 boards and Yesimar Escudero (168-PG-2007) finished up with 13 points and 6 rebounds. For Diosas, Vanessa Reyes (2007) scored 14, Guadalupe Diaz added 14 points, 4 assists and 3 steals and Yolimar Martinez (184-C-1995) ended with a double double of 12 points and 12 rebounds.

Meanwhile, Pastoras had no trouble travelling to Maracaibo and playing at Belisario Aponte Arena to defeat Gaiteras del Zulia (2-12) twice, 71-36 and 79-47.

In the first match, Daniela Morillo-Wallen (179-SF-1995, college: Okla City) was too much for Zulia's defense. She scored 32 points and added 14 rebounds and 5 steals, while Genesis Rivera (180-G/F-1996, college: UMass) added a double double of 11 points and 14 rebounds. For Gaiteras, Julieth Sivira (162-G-2003) netted 12 points and Danha Aguilar (174-PF) 8 points and 8 rebounds.

One day later, Daniela Morillo-Wallen had another commanding performance with 19 points, 21 rebounds, 6 assists, 5 steals and a block for Pastoras. Fabiana Hernandez (173-PG-2006) followed her with 14 points, Nirvana Garcia (174-F-2001) with 13 and Genesis Rivera finished up with 11 points and 16 rebounds. For Zulia, Fabiola Morales scored 15 and stole 4 balls and Julieth Sivira added 12 with 6 rebounds and 3 assists.

Meanwhile, Capitalinas hosted Marquesas de Barinas (3-11) in Caracas and were able to get a couple of victories, 60-59 and 80-69.

In the first game, Jessuana Machado (176-SF-2004) scored 19 points and grabbed 6 rebounds for the winners, getting help from Fabiana Garcia (169-PG-2006) with 12 points and 3 steals. Ivonny Seijas (2006) led Barinas with 19 points, 8 rebounds, 6 assists and 4 steals, while Leidys Albrujas finished up with 15 and 3 steals.

In the second game, Joan Ramirez (161-PG) led the hosts with 19 points, 4 assists and 3 steals, Jessuana Machado added 14 with 9 boards, 4 assists and 3 steals and Fabiana Garcia finished up with 14, 9 rebounds and 5 assists. For Marquesas, Ivonny Seijas scored 23, grabbed 9 rebounds and added 6 steals. Leidys Albrujas added 19 points, 8 rebounds 3 assists and 5 steals.
