SLFB 2025 - Round 8 - Diosas, Pastoras and Capitalinas secure spots in the Semifinals

Caribenas de Caracas (18-1) grabbed 4 more victories and continued their dominant run in Venezuela's Superliga Femenina de Baloncesto (SLFB) 2025, which also helped Diosas de Guacara (12-5), Pastoras de Lara (10-6) and Capitalinas de Distrito Capital (7-10) secure spots in the next round (Semifinals).

Caribenas swept Marquesas de Barinas (3-14), 76-50 and 69-44, and then proceeded to do the same against Gaiteras del Zulia (2-16), 83-36 and 66-42.

Aguehil Fajardo (183-PF-1999) led Caribenas in the first triumph over Marquesas, thanks to a double double of 30 points and 10 rebounds. Astrid Hinojosa (174-PF-2008) added 12 points and Eduglatriz Castro (178-F-2004) finished up with 10 points, 5 assists and 3 steals.

For Marquesas, Ivonny Seijas (2006) shined with 16 points, 9 rebounds, 4 assists and 3 steals. Leidys Albrujas added 12 rebounds and 4 assists and Edglimar Montero (176-PF-2003) finished up with a double double of 10 points and 10 rebounds.

Aguehil Fajardo was also the main source of points in the second victory over Marquesas for Caribenas, this time with 20 points and 9 rebounds, followed by Barbara Pico (168-PG-2002) with 16 points and 5 assists. For Marquesas, Ivonny Seijas netted 15 with 3 assists and Leidys Albrujas ended up with 11 points and 8 rebounds.

Against Gaiteras, Barbara Pico led Caribenas in the first game with 12 points, 6 assists and 3 steals, Lismary Garcia (164-G/F-2002) added 10 points and Aguehil Fajardo finished up with 10 points and 8 boards. For Gaiteras, Yorkelly Weir scored 13 points.

In the second game, Aguehil Fajardo was dominant with a double double of 14 points and 16 rebounds. She got help from Astrid Hinojosa with 12 points and Barbara Pico with 11 and 6 rebounds. For Gaiteras, Julieth Sivira (162-G-2003) scored 16 points, grabbed 7 rebounds and stole 5 balls.

Diosas played against Pastoras 4 times in a row to compensate for the first half of the regular season, in which the series had to be rescheduled.

In Barquisimeto, Pastoras won the first game, 75-68, at Napoleon Rodriguez Arena. Daniela Morillo-Wallen (179-SF-1995, college: Okla City) scored 27 points, grabbed 16 rebounds and added 5 assists and 4 steals for the hosts. Genesis Rivera (180-G/F-1996, college: UMass) followed her with 17 points, 7 rebounds and 4 steals while Nicole Garcia (174-SG-2001) added 11 points, 8 rebounds and 3 steals.

For Diosas, Vanessa Reyes (2007) scored 19 points, Guadalupe Diaz (163-PG-1999) added 15 with 9 assists and Yolimar Martinez (184-C-1995) completed a double double of 10 points and 15 rebounds, adding 4 assists.

The second game in Barquisimeto was taken by Diosas, 74-72. The visitors were led by Yohanny Uribe with 29 points and 3 assists and Yolimar Martinez with 17 points and 18 rebounds. For the hosts, Daniela Morillo-Wallen finished up with 20 points, 15 rebounds, 5 assists and 3 steals, Mariana Duran (172-PG-1993, college: Okla City) added 17 points, 5 assists and 4 steals, Fabiana Hernandez (173-PG-2006) scored 11 and Genesis Rivera 10 more with 8 rebounds.

Both teams traveled to Guacara to play at Loma Linda Arena in the next two days. Pastoras surprised Diosas in the first game, 79-70. Mariana Duran played a dominant role with 21 points, 6 rebounds and 4 assists for the title holders, followed by Daniela Morillo-Wallen with 17 points, 13 rebounds, 9 assists and 7 steals, Genesis Rivera with 12 points, 10 rebounds and 3 assists and Hillary Perez (169-SF-1995) with 12 points.

For the hosts, Yohanny Uribe netted 15 points, Darleska Perez (175-PF-2007) added 12 with 7 boards and Nohelia Chile (191-C-2002) 11 with 9 rebounds.

Diosas took revenge and saved a series split at home the next day, winning 68-66. Yolimar Martinez scored 14 points and grabbed 13 rebounds, Darleska Perez added 12 points, 7 rebounds and 3 steals and Leudys Quevedo (183-F/C-1998) finished up with 11 and 3 assists.

For Pastoras, Daniela Morillo-Wallen scored 17 points, grabbed 12 rebounds and added 6 assists, 6 steals and 2 blocks, Genesis Rivera added 14 points, 7 rebounds and 2 blocks and Mariana Duran finished up with 13 points, 9 rebounds and 4 assists.

Finally, Capitalinas also swept Gaiteras, 77-66 and 72-56 in Caracas.

In the first match, Fabiana Garcia (169-PG-2006) pointed them towards victory with 14 points and 3 assists, Jessuana Machado (176-SF-2004) added 13 points and Sherika Salazar 12 more. For Gaiteras, Danielis Ysasis (180-F-2004) finished up with 25 points, 17 rebounds, 4 steals and a block, Fabiola Morales added 16 and Camila Lizardo 10 more.

Then in the second game, Jessuana Machado led the way with 18 points, 7 rebounds, 3 assists and 5 steals, Barbara Herrera (180-PF) followed her with 17 points and 6 rebounds and then Joan Ramirez (161-PG) added 13 points, 6 rebounds and 5 assists.

For Gaiteras, Danielis Ysasis could not avoid the defeat despite a great performance with 27 points, 7 rebounds and 4 steals. Julieth Sivira added 15 points and 5 steals.
