SLFB 2025 Semifinals - Round 1 - Caribenas and Pastoras take 1-0 lead- July 25, 2025

Caribenas de Caracas and Pastoras de Lara took 1-0 leads in their respective Semifinals series in Venezuela's Superliga Femenina de Baloncesto (SLFB) 2025, by taking down Capitalinas de Distrito Capital and Diosas de Guacara, respectively, in Caracas and Valencia.
Caribenas defeated Capitalinas 83-61 at El Poliedrito Arena in Caracas, D.C, thanks to a spectacular performance by Aguehil Fajardo (183-PF-1999) with 29 points and 11 rebounds. She got help from Astrid Hinojosa (174-PF-2008) with 15 points, 7 boards and 4 assists, Yesimar Escudero (168-PG-2007) with 13 points, 5 rebounds, 3 assists and 3 steals and Waleska Perez (180-G-1994, college: Weatherford JC) with 10 points, 8 rebounds, 3 assists and a couple of steals. Meanwhile, Sherika Salazar led Capitalinas with 14 points, while Joan Ramirez (161-PG) added 11 points, 6 rebounds, 3 assists and 2 steals. At Loma Linda Arena in Guacara, Carabobo, Pastoras were able to get an away win and take away the lead from Diosas with a score of 74-60, even though the hosts had ended at second place in the regular season, topping Pastoras for the home advantage in the semis. Odeth Betancourt (188-F-2000, college: WKU) was dominant with a double double of 17 point and 20 rebounds, adding 3 steals. Daniela Morillo-Wallen (179-SF-1995, college: Okla City) also completed a double double with 16 points and 15 boards, adding 4 assists and 4 steals, while point guard Mariana Duran (172-PG-1993, college: Okla City) finished up with 13 points, 6 assists and 3 steals. For Diosas, Darleska Perez (175-PF-2007) finished up with 13 points, 9 rebounds 5 steals and a block, Guadalupe Diaz (163-PG-1999) added 11 points, 5 rebounds, two assists and two steals and Vanessa Reyes (2007) finished up with 10 points, 2 steals and a block. |
