Caribenas de Caracas took Game 2 as hosts at Jose Joaquin Carrillo Arena (Miranda Park) in Caracas, D.C, to tie the 2025 Superliga Femenina de Baloncesto Finals, 1-1, after successfully getting revenge against Pastoras de Lara, 70-63.
The defense played a key role for the winning side, finishing on top at the end of each quarter, 21-17, 38-27, 49-39 and then 70-63. Astrid Hinojosa (174-PF-2008) netted 27 points for the winning side, adding 5 rebounds, 3 assists and 3 steals. Barbara Pico (168-PG-2002) came back after an injury kept her out of Game 1 and she finished up with 19 points, 3 assists and a couple of steals. "What led us to victory was our defense. The intensity we showed in this game, we need to take it to Barquisimeto and try to get victories there", said Pico after the game. For Pastoras, Daniela Morillo-Wallen (179-SF-1995, college: Okla City) finished up with a double double of 17 points and 12 rebounds, adding 3 assists. Mariana Duran (172-PG-1993, college: Okla City) scored 13 points with 5 rebounds and 5 assists, Genesis Rivera (180-G/F-1996, college: UMass) scored 12 points and Odeth Betancourt (188-F-2000, college: WKU) finished up with 10 points, 9 rebounds and a block. The series will now move to Napoleon Rodriguez Arena in Barquisimeto for Game 3 (August 1st) and Game 4 (August 2nd). |
