Brillantes de Zulia (SPB) signed 26-year old Venezuelan point guard Carlos Paez (180cm-79kg-2000, college: SE Louisiana) for the upcoming 2026 season. He played last summer at Sabios in the Colombian LBP league. In 14 games, he had 9.4ppg, 3.9rpg, and 2.1apg.
He was a member of the Venezuelan Under 16 National Team in 2015. Paez was also voted the Latinbasket.com All-Venezuelan SPB Rookie of the Year in 2025.
His team reached the OVC Tournament Semifinals in 2020.
He graduated from Southeastern Louisiana University in 2025 and it will be his second season as a professional player. Paez played also for Austin Peay State University for 4 years.
