Superliga Femenina 2026 - Hidrocarburos defeated reigning champions Pastoras in season opener

Hidrocarburos de Caracas (1-0), one of the new franchises in Venezuela's 2026 Superliga Femenina de Baloncesto, defeated the current title holders, Pastoras de Lara (0-1), in the season opener played in Caracas, 79-56.

Hidrocarburos led the first quarter by a ten-point margin (21-11) and never let go of the scoreboard's command, finishing ahead in each of the remaining quarters, 38-28, 57-41 and 79-56.

Waleska Perez (180-G-1994, college: Weatherford JC) displayed all of her well known skills as one of Venezuela's Senior National Team stars, by leading the winners with 12 points, 12 rebounds, 6 assists and 7 steals. Jessuana Machado (176-SF-2004) added 11 points and 5 rebounds.

For the hosts, Scarlet Mata and Paula Salaverria also scored 10 points each.

For Pastoras, playing without their core of National Team players, Greydismar Camacaro (167-SG-2009) netted 13 points, Valeria Rodriguez added 12 points and 6 rebounds and Sharon Pena) finished up with 7 points.
