Diego Colon gets MVP of the Week award for Venezuelan SPB

Dominican Rep. Diego Colon (188-SG-2001) put on an amazing game in the last round for league's second-best Cocodrilos de Caracas and that's him to receive a Hoops Agents Player of the Week award for round 17.
The 24-year old shooting guard had the game-high 36 points adding five rebounds and three assists for Cocodrilos in his team's victory, helping them to crush Piratas (#11, 2-8) with 20-point margin 105-85. Cocodrilos is placed at 2nd position in Venezuelan SPB. They would have been even better if they hadn't lost a few games earlier this season. Cocodrilos will need more victories to improve their 7-3 record. In the team's last game Colon had a remarkable 85.7% from 2-point range and got six three-pointers out of 11 attempts. He just recently signed at Cocodrilos, being already a very valuable addition to the team. Colon has impressive league stats. He is league's best scorer averaging so far 23.3ppg. Colon is in league's top in and averages solid 55.3% FGP.

The second most remarkable performance in last round's games was young point guard Argenis Indriago (178-PG-2000) of Panteras de Miranda. Indriago impressed basketball fans with 24 points and 5 assists. Bad luck as Panteras lost that game 92-97 to the higher-ranked Pioneros (#7, 6-4). Panteras are still at the very bottom. 9 lost games are too many comparing to just one victory Panteras managed to get this year. Indriago is a newcomer at Panteras and it seems he did not have too much trouble to become one of team's leaders.

The third best performed player last round was international Edgar Martinez (199-SF-1997) of Pioneros Del Avila (#7). Martinez scored 19 points and grabbed 13 rebounds (!!!). He was a key player of Pioneros, leading his team to a 97-92 win against the lower-ranked Panteras (#13, 1-9). Pioneros needs these victories very badly if they think about getting closer to top teams. Their record at this point is 6 victories and 4 lost games. Martinez has a very solid season. In 10 games in Venezuela he scored 7.9ppg. He also has 5.4rpg, a FGP of 64.3% and 3PT: 44.8%.
