SPB Round 25 (Regular Season): Brillantes have no problems against Centauros

The game between eighth ranked Brillantes (7-8) and 12th ranked Centauros (2-13) in Caracas on Tuesday ended with biggest points difference. Brillantes beat guests from Margarita 107-91. Brillantes made 24-of-30 free shots (80.0 percent) during the game. They looked well-organized offensively handing out 26 assists. Worth to mention a great performance of the former international guard Bryant Duran (180-1999) who helped to win the game recording 16 points and 5 assists. American center Tevin Glass (203-1994, college: ETSU) contributed with 19 points for the winners. Dominican swingman Luis Martinez (196-2000) answered with 24 points for Centauros. Both coaches used bench players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Brillantes maintains eighth place with 7-8 record. Centauros lost seventh consecutive game. They keep the twelfth position with 13 games lost. Both teams do not play next round, which will be an opportunity for some rest.
Another exciting game was a derby match between two teams from Caracas: Diablos (#10) and Heroes (#9). Diablos (6-9) won against visiting Heroes (5-10) 96-89. Bryan Savinon stepped up and scored 31 points and 4 assists (on 13-of-17 shooting from the field) for the winners and Delwan Graham chipped in 17 points, 10 rebounds and 7 assists. At the losing side Bahamas David Nesbitt (205-1991, college: St.Thomas, FL) responded with 20 points and 9 rebounds. Both coaches tested many bench players and allowed the starting five to rest. Diablos moved-up to ninth place. Heroes at the other side dropped to the tenth position with ten games lost. They share it with Piratas. Diablos will play against higher ranked Guaiqueries (#5) in Porlamar in the next round and it will be quite challenging to get another victory. Heroes' supporters look forward to an exciting derby game next round, where their team will travel locally in Caracas to the arena Spartans.

In the last two games of round 25 Pioneros beat Piratas on the road 80-66. Trotamundos won against Marinos on its own court 85-81.
The most impressive performance of 25th round was 22 points and 19 rebounds by Malik Dime of Marinos.

Diablos - Heroes 96-89

Another exciting game was a derby match between two teams from Caracas: Diablos (#10) and Heroes (#9). Diablos (6-9) won against visiting Heroes (5-10) 96-89. Diablos dominated down low during the game scoring 56 of its points in the paint compared to Heroes' 30. Diablos had a 32-20 advantage in offensive rebounds. Their players were unselfish on offense dishing 27 assists. Bryan Savinon stepped up and scored 31 points and 4 assists (on 13-of-17 shooting from the field) for the winners and American forward Delwan Graham (200-1988, college: Jacksonville, agency: Interperformances) chipped in 17 points, 10 rebounds and 7 assists. At the losing side Bahamas David Nesbitt (205-1991, college: St.Thomas, FL) responded with 20 points and 9 rebounds and American guard Jared Cunningham (194-1991, college: Oregon St., agency: BIG) scored 21 points and 4 assists (made all of his eleven free throws !!!). Four Diablos and five Heroes players scored in double figures. Both coaches tested many bench players and allowed the starting five to rest. Diablos moved-up to ninth place. Heroes at the other side dropped to the tenth position with ten games lost. They share it with Piratas. No shocking result in a game when seventh ranked Pioneros (8-8) beat 11th ranked Piratas (5-10) in La Guaira 80-66. Pioneros outrebounded Piratas 51-32 including a 38-26 advantage in defensive rebounds. Pioneros players were unselfish on offense dishing 24 assists comparing to just 10 passes made by Piratas' players. The former international point guard Heissler Guillent (186-1986) stepped up and scored 5 points and 14 assists for the winners and American guard Brevin Galloway (188-1997, college: Clemson, agency: BIG) chipped in 16 points and 6 rebounds. At the losing side American forward Jordan Hamilton (201-1990, college: Texas) responded with 20 points and 6 rebounds and the other American import swingman James Ennis (201-1990, college: LBSU) scored 14 points and 6 rebounds. Both coaches allowed to play bench players saving starting five for next games. Pioneros moved-up to sixth place, which they share with Marinos. Rather expected game when 6th ranked Marinos (8-8) lost to fourth ranked Trotamundos (11-5) in La Asuncion 81-85. Strangely Marinos outrebounded Trotamundos 41-28 including 27 on the defensive glass. American guard James Reese V (193-1998, college: S.Carolina) stepped up and scored 26 points, 6 rebounds and 4 assists for the winners and naturalized American Donta Smith (201-1983, college: SE Illinois JC) chipped in 14 points, 6 rebounds and 5 assists. At the losing side Senegalese-American center Malik Dime (206-1992, college: Washington, agency: Slash Sports) responded with a double-double by scoring 22 points and 19 rebounds and American forward Bryan Jefferson (201-1994, college: Mary) scored 12 points and 7 rebounds. Both teams had four players each who scored in double figures. Trotamundos have a solid series of four victories in a row. They maintain fourth place with 11-5 record. Marinos lost third consecutive game. Newly promoted team keep the sixth position with eight games lost. They share it with Pioneros.
