SLBF 2026 - Barbara Pico Velasquez comes back to Caribenas

Caribenas de Caracas (SLBF) signed 24-year-old former Venezuelan-Cuban international 168cm point guard Barbara Velasquez. It marks her return to Caracas, where she previously played. Velasquez transferred from Mieleras in the Mexican LMBPF, where she began the season before changing plans. In 14 LMBPF games she recently played, she averaged 10.1ppg, 3.9rpg, 1.9apg, and 2.3spg (ranking in the top 3). Velasquez contributed to Mieleras finishing the regular season as the second-best team in the league and advancing to the semifinals. Her performance earned her a spot on the Latinbasket.com All-Mexican LMBPF Honorable Mention team.
Velasquez represented Venezuela at the Olympic Games Pre-Qualifying Tournament in Medellin (Colombia) three years ago. During this event she scored an average of 1.5 points per game and had 1 rebound per game.
She has also played in Chile (CDCS Madre Paulina and Ancud) and Venezuela (Pastoras).
Among many awards, her team won the Venezuelan League Regular Season in 2025. Velasquez was also selected as the Latinbasket.com All-Venezuelan LINABAFE Defensive Player of the Year back in 2021.
