SLBF Round 1 (Super Round): Costaneras and Hidrocarburos get the lead in the playoffs

Costaneras de Puerto Cabello (1-0) crushed Marineras de Anzoategui (0-1) to start at the leadership position in Venezuela's SLBF 2026 playoffs, starting the Super Round with a 91-39 victory as hosts, while Hidrocarburos de Caracas (1-0) dominated Caribenas de Caracas (0-1), 78-50, in another home victory.

Fabiana Hernandez (173-PG-2006) led Costaneras with 18 points, 5 assists and 3 steals. She got help from Yoliannys Uribe) with 14 points and 3 steals.

Newcomer Odeth Betancourt (188-F-2000, college: WKU), a fresh signing after spending the season in Europe and a shining member of Venezuela's Senior National Team, added a double double with 11 points and 12 rebounds for the winning side, while including 3 assists and 4 steals.

Another new signing fresh from European basketball action, Genesis Rivera (180-G/F-1996, college: UMass), was quick to support Costaneras with 10 points, 8 rebounds, 5 assists, 2 steals and 2 blocks in an all-around performance.

Marineras had Andrea Fagundez) as best scorer with 13 points and 5 boards, while Yanetsy Zamaro (178-PF-1998) completed a double double with 12 points and 11 rebounds.

Hidrocarburos had no problem to take down Caribenas, thanks to Jormelys Urbina (170-G-1996), who led the way with 16 points. Waleska Perez (180-G-1994, college: Weatherford JC) added a double double with 11 points and 12 boards, finishing also with 5 assists and a steal to her account. Fabiana Garcia (169-PG-2006) added 11 points.

It was also a historical game for the league, as it marked the return of former Venezuelan Senior National Team point guard Roselis Silva (166-PG-1991, college: Arkansas Tech) to Venezuelan basketball leagues after a 10-year stint overseas, including stellar performances in Spain.

Silva will play for Hidrocarburos till the end of the season and in 27 minutes finished up with 2 points, a rebound, 8 assists and 5 steals.

For Caribenas, Barbara Velasquez (168-PG-2002) scored 12 points and grabbed 7 rebounds, while Klennie Webster (2001) added 10 points and 8 boards.
