Indeportes hand first defeat to Centauros, clinch Group A top spot

The most crucial game of the last round was a loss of Mexican Centauros (2-1) on Sunday night. Hosts were defeated by Colombian Indeportes (2-1) 72-66. The guests were tied at the half but managed to speed up in last two quarters eventually winning the game. Indeportes forced 19 Centauros turnovers and outrebounded them 47-32 including a 17-5 advantage in offensive rebounds. The best player for the winners was guard Carolina Lopez (188-1998) who had a double-double by scoring 11 points, 10 rebounds and 6 assists. Power forward Wendy Coy (178-1998) chipped in 9 points and 10 rebounds. At the other side the best for losing team was American guard Kristen Spolyar (178-1997, college: Butler) who recorded 23 points and 5 rebounds. Centauros' coach rotated ten players in this game, but that didn't help. Both teams do not play next round, which will be an opportunity for some rest.

It was a good game for American Porsche Poole (175-1989, college: Michigan St.) who led her team to a victory with a double-double by scoring 26 points, 8 rebounds and 11 assists. Brandi Harvey-Carr contributed with 21 points and 15 rebounds for the winners. Salvadorenas' coach allowed to play the deep bench players saving starting five for next games. Colombian guard Manuela Rios (165-1997) answered with 26 points, 9 rebounds, 9 assists and 7 steals for Teporacas. Both teams do not play next round, which will be an opportunity for some rest.

Salvadorenas - Teporacas 99-93

Very important is a road loss of Mexican Teporacas (1-2) against Salvadorean Salvadorenas (1-2) on Sunday night. Visiting Teporacas were defeated by Salvadorenas in a tough game in Santa Tecla 93-99. Teporacas were tied at the half but could not keep up in last two quarters eventually losing the game. Salvadorenas made 18-of-20 charity shots (90.0 percent) during the game. Their players were unselfish on offense dishing 21 assists. It was a good game for American Porsche Poole (175-1989, college: Michigan St.) who led her team to a victory with a double-double by scoring 26 points, 8 rebounds and 11 assists. Her fellow American import center Brandi Harvey-Carr (193-1994, college: Pittsburgh) contributed with a double-double by scoring 21 points and 15 rebounds for the winners. Poole is a former Eurobasket Summer League player, which is considered top international summer league in the market. Salvadorenas' coach allowed to play the deep bench players saving starting five for next games. Colombian guard Manuela Rios (165-1997) answered with 26 points, 9 rebounds, 9 assists and 7 steals and American forward Kamilah Jackson (183-1992, college: Hawaii) added 14 points and 12 rebounds in the effort for Teporacas. Five Salvadorenas and four Teporacas players scored in double figures. Both teams do not play next round, which will be an opportunity for some rest.
