Jenifer Munoz gets MVP of the Week award for WBLA- September 26, 2023
The 32-year old forward had a double-double of 23 points and fifteen rebounds, while her team crushed Univ.de Chile (2-1) with 25-point margin 78-53. In the team's last game Munoz had a remarkable 70.0% from 2-point range. She turned to be Malvin's top player in her first season with the team. Munoz has impressive league stats. She is in league's top in points (2nd best: 24.3ppg) and rebounds (7th best: 8.7rpg). The second most remarkable performance in last round's games was young American power forward Sidney Cooks (193-F/C-1998) of Obras. Cooks impressed basketball fans with 22 points and 6 rebounds. Bad luck as Obras lost that game 80-86 to Felix Perez (1-2). Cooks is a newcomer at Obras and it seems she did not have too much trouble to become one of team's leaders. The third best performed player last round was Latvian Ilze Jakobsone (168-G-1994) of Felix Perez (#4). Jakobsone showcased her all-around game by recording 20 points, five rebounds and ten assists (!!!) in the last round. She was a key player of Felix Perez, leading her team to a 86-80 win against #3 ranked Obras. Jakobsone has individually a great season in WBLA. After only 3 games, she made it on the list of the league's leaders in assists with 6.0apg (5th best). Other top performing players last week: 4. Dahomee Forgues (173-G) of Obras - 20 points, 6 rebounds and 4 assists 5. Maria Jourdheuil (180-PF-1994) of Malvin - 18 points, 5 rebounds and 5 assists 6. Isabelle Gradwell (185-G/F-2000) of Felix Perez - 23 points, 7 rebounds and 2 assists 7. Fernanda Serrano (175-SG-1992) of Univ.de Chile - 12 points and 8 rebounds 8. Candela Gentinetta (181-SF-2001) of Obras - 12 points, 10 rebounds and 4 assists 9. Marta Peralta (171-SG-1994) of Felix Perez - 9 points, 4 rebounds and 2 assists 10. Javiera Novion (170-PG-1987) of Univ.de Chile - 18 points, 6 rebounds and 4 assists The Player of the week is selected based on efficiency calculation, but also including game result, importance of the game, if played recorded double-double/triple-double, etc. The efficiency formula is a combination of various formulas used by different basketball organizations/leagues. We got involved many basketball scouts and journalists to assure it's accuracy. The formula: 1.5*PTS + 3*(REB+AST+ST+BL-TO) - 2*BSAG - 4*PF + 3*PFRV + 4*(2FGPM+3FGPM) + 1.5*FTM - 3*(2FGPA-2FGPM) - 3*(3FGPA-3FGPM) - (FTA-FTM)
