St. George International closed an impressive season at the Premier Basketball League in style. They toppled the Paget Bear Cats in the Final game to claim the crown. The victory marked the third straight title for the St. George International. The International did the obligatory home task of limiting the undoubtedly best player of the regular season Chris Crumpler (-83). The winners held the main Bear Cats offensive threat to only 21 points in the title decider. It was just enough to celebrate victory at the end. St. George International piled up a 38:31 lead at halftime and continued to mount the pressure in the second half. They opened up a double digit lead soon after the start of the second half and never allowed the Bear Cats to threaten it. Dean Jones (198-F-83) led all scorers 24 points for St. George. Damon Saunders (-84) was named the MVP of the Final. He delivered 13 points, 11 boards and 4 blocks in a winning case.

The Bermuda leagues favorites Paget Bear Cats advanced to the championship game following their win in the semifinal. There the top seed faced Hamilton Tsunamis. The game was an evenly matched contest throughout the action. But the regular season MVP Chris Crumpler (-83) was the one to prove the difference. His impressive tally of 41 points allowed the Bear Cats to celebrate a tough 78:66 victory at the end. Shawn Palmer and Jonathan Noseworthy provided 16 points apiece for the Tsunamis.

The game was an evenly matched contest throughout the action. But the regular season MVP Chris Crumpler (-83) was the one to prove the difference. His impressive tally of 41 points allowed the Bear Cats to celebrate a tough 78:66 victory at the end. Shawn Palmer and Jonathan Noseworthy provided 16 points apiece for the Tsunamis. Meanwhile another semifinal battle saw St. George International taking on Smiths Wild Cats. The game was also a tight affair with the outcome unknown till the final minutes. But St. George International were just little more accurate in the dying stages to pull away with a 79:68 win. John Lugo topscored with 29 points for the International. Steven Simons (-82) replied with game-high 31 points for the Wild Cats. So the Final game of the Premier Division is scheduled for Saturday at the MSA Gymnasium. The teams met once in the regular season. Paget Bear Cats claimed a 64:53 win in that clash. Chris Crumpler was impressive in the encounter with 34 points and 6 assists. So the question remains if the St. George International would be able to keep Crumpler quiet. |

Paget Bearcats - Southampton Titans 71-49
Top seed Paget Bearcats steamrolled past the Titans with Chris Crumpler (-83) again leading the way. Crumpler also picked up his MVP award for the season. He averaged 30.2 points, 7.9 rebounds, 3.9 steals and 4.5 assists per game. Aaron Jackson pulled down 13 rebounds in the win.
Johnny Minors and Adam Correia both had 15 points with Minors also collecting seven boards for the Titans.
Southampton was done in by its 22 turnovers.

Hamilton Tsunamis - Hamilton Parish Chargers 55-52 A balanced Tsunamis scoring attack saw them corral the Chargers and advance to the semi-finals. Phil Davis was the top scorer for the Tsunamis with 14 points while Jerry Friday cleaned the glass for 12 boards. The Chargers were led by Chae Powell's 16 and Shawn Brown's 13 rebounds.
Smith's Wildcats - Pembroke Cane Toads 87-63 Jason Simons had his best game of the season as he pumped in 32 points for the Wildcats in an emphatic victory over the Cane Toads. Johnny Correia had 10 rebounds in a contest that saw the winners take care of the ball. The Wildcats only had four rebounds. The Cane Toads benefited from Lee Greene's 23 points and nine rebounds from Simon Onabowale 9.
St. George's International - Warwick Rim Rockers 76-51 Dean Jones had 15 rebounds and Charjuan Knights 19 points as second seed St. George's had little trouble with the Rim Rockers. In a well-played game that saw only nine turnovers between both teams, Vernon Lambe had 17 points for the Rim Rockers. Kent Tacklyn had 11 rebounds in the losing effort.
