National Team Announced for Buffalo Tour - May 17, 2013

the Bermuda National Mens Basketball Team will be playing two games against the Pro team Buffalo Warriors May 17th and 22nd in Buffalo. National coach Roderick Spencer said, We are taking about 14 or 15 guys. All but 3 are players that have been part of our last Island Games and or Caribbean Basketball Conference teams with a few new faces that we are looking at. www.islandstats.com can report there will not be a Basketball Tournament for Island Games and we can also report that the Caribbean Basketball Championships this year has been cancelled/postponed. We can now bring you the list of players heading to Buffalo for the tour with Head Coach Spencer and Gavin Mackenzie the Assistant Coach.

The Bermuda National Mens Basketball Team will be playing two games against the Pro team Buffalo Warriors May 17th and 22nd in Buffalo. National coach Roderick Spencer said, We are taking about 14 or 15 guys. All but 3 are players that have been part of our last Island Games and or Caribbean Basketball Conference teams with a few new faces that we are looking at. Spencer when asked how this came about said, This came about after a talk I had with Terrence Dill, we needed games and the Buffalo Warriors were looking to fill a hole in their schedule. Spence went on to say, We are definitely open to hosting them here in Bermuda but like always it will come down to funding, when asked if Bermuda could host the Buffalo Warriors. And to the question about when will Bermuda get a chance to see the top players all on the court at the same time, To be honest I don't known when Bermuda will see our best team play.

Riley and McGill are RSEQ Champions - Mar 10, 2013

Tejour Riley (193-G-94) scored 8 points as McGill University rallied from a 15-point deficit to defeat Bishop's 77-74 in a heart-thumping RSEQ Men's Basketball Championship Final before a record crowd of 1,023 at Love Competition Hall. It was McGill's 21st Conference Title overall but their first since 1986, when they advanced to a CIS Regional Tournament. Bishop's led 23-14 after the opening quarter and 42-28 at halftime, then took what appeared to be an insurmountable 49-34 lead less than three minutes into the second half. But McGill narrowed the gap to 61-55 by the end of the third quarter and finally grabbed the lead at 68-67 with 4:04 remaining in the game on a three-point play by McGill top scorer Adrian Hynes-Guery (190-G, college: Amer.Internat.). The lead changed hands four times in the final four minutes and Bishops bounced back to take a 74-70 advantage with 2:20 left but McGill rallied the troops again. Hynes-Guery scored the winning basket with 67 seconds remaining, draining his second three pointer of the game to put McGill ahead 75-74.
Hynes-Guery, a first-year transfer from the NCAA's American International College, made only four of 15 shots from the field but shot an impressive 14-for-16 from the foul line for 24 points. Riley went 4 for 5 from the Field, he grabbed 8 Rebounds to go along with 1 Assist and 1 Steal in 21 minutes of action.
