On Saturday 9th June 2012, it was yet another interested night of basketball in the DABA 2012 LIME National Basketball League.
The evening matchups brought together Police Sports Club and EH Charles Crossovers in the Kubuli Vita Malt Division 2. The law men were playing their first game of the season and were up against a young and determined Crossover team, who were out to prove their basketball abilities. The crossover team seized the moment and started the game on a 9-0 run, however the law men were able to regroup and took their first lead of the game 11-9. At the end of the first quarter it was 20-11 in favour of Crossovers. Things turned from bad to hopeless for the law men as they found themselves in further difficulties. By the end of the first half the scores were 52-28. The second half of the game was much more competetive, but in no way was the game, it was a one sided matchup with Crossover dominating. The only thing that could come in the path of the beat down inflicted on the law men by the Crossover team was the end of regulation whistle by the referee. At the end of regulation, it was a 39 point margin of victory for the Crossover team, the final scores EH Charles Crossover 108- Police Sports Club 69.
The second game of the evening was a DOMLEC Premiere Division matchup between United Insurance Sharks and Paix Bouche Eagles. However basketball fans were left in disapointment as the Paix Bouche team failed to show up when the referee blew the whistle for the start of the contest. The Eagles team did not give any oficial reason for their absense to the match commissioners or the Secretary General of the DABA. At 9:45 pm the referee blew the match off and awarded the victory to the Sharks team, who were already in uniform and had a minimum of five players to start the game.
Leading the way for Crossovers and the Police were as follows;
