LDD Round 1 (Regular Season): Independ.O.roll past Olimpico

Independ.O. smashed Olimpico in Olivia 103-81. Independ.O. dominated down low during the game scoring 60 of its points in the paint compared to Olimpico's 40. They outrebounded Olimpico 68-34 including a 25-12 advantage in offensive rebounds. Great defensive blocking was one of the keys in this match when Independ.O. made 9 blocks. Worth to mention a great performance of Santiago Ballarena who helped to win the game recording a double-double by scoring 14 points and 11 rebounds. Forward Jorge Garcia (200-2003) contributed with 15 points and 6 rebounds for the winners. Independ.O.'s coach felt very confident that he used entire bench which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Luciano Tundis answered with 19 points and 5 rebounds for Olimpico. Olimpico will play next round against Regatas trying to get back on the winning streak. Independ.O. will try to continue on its current victory against Platense in Florida.
Atenas recorded a loss in Cordoba. Hosts were rolled over by Boca Jrs 100-63. Matias Stachiotti (-2005) stepped up with a double-double by scoring 21 points and 11 rebounds for the winners and Tiziano Prome chipped in 22 points and 5 rebounds. At the losing side Tiago Tomatis responded with a double-double by scoring 27 points and 12 rebounds. Atenas' coach Walter Albert gave up on the game allowing to play twelve players seeing no chance for a win. Boca Jrs will play against Union in Santa Fe in the next round which should be theoretically another easy game. Atenas will have a break next round.
Worth to mention about the upset in a game between Penarol and Platense , which took place in Florida. Penarol lost to Platense in a road game 70-74 on Thursday. Mariano Goicoechea nailed 25 points for the winning side. Gian Rossi came up with a double-double by scoring 33 points (!!!) and 11 rebounds for Penarol in the defeat. Platense will meet at home Independ.O. in the next round and it will be quite challenging to get another victory. Penarol will play against Obras having rather not much hope for a victory.

Other games in round 1 were not that significant. Platense lost to Obras on the road 68-74. Instituto won against Olimpico on its own court 75-66. San Lorenzo unfortunately lost to Union in Santa Fe 64-68. Ferro managed to beat Penarol at home 81-63. Obras crushed Gimnasia on the opponent's court 87-57. Regatas beat Instituto in a home game 87-73. Zarate won against Boca Jrs. on the road 67-62.
The most impressive performance of 1st round was 21 points and 10 rebounds by Tiago Drocezesky of Boca Jrs..



Atenas - Boca Jrs. 63-100

Atenas recorded a loss in Cordoba. Hosts were rolled over by Boca Jrs 100-63. Boca Jrs. had a 37-23 advantage in offensive rebounds. Obras - Platense 74-68

Obras used a home court advantage and beat the opponent from Florida 74-68 on Tuesday night. However just six-point win is not that big difference and the fans of host team counted on more convincing victory. Power forward Valentino Finetti (204-2005) nailed 18 points and 8 rebounds for the winning side and point guard Juan Respaud (190-2005) accounted for 17 points and 8 rebounds. Obras' coach Javier Ielmini used an eleven-player rotation and allowed the starting five to rest. Venezuelan Henyerberth Mata (201-2005) came up with a double-double by scoring 17 points and 10 rebounds (perfect from the field making all seven shots !!!) and Joaquin Goncalves added 16 points and 6 rebounds respectively for Platense in the defeat. Obras will meet Penarol in the next round which should be an easy win for them. Platense will play against Independ.O. and hope to win that game.

Very expected game when Olimpico lost to Instituto in Cordoba 66-75 on Tuesday. Instituto outrebounded Olimpico 54-31 including a 20-8 advantage in offensive rebounds. Lucca Giuliani nailed 4 points and 14 rebounds for the winning side and guard Fausto Moussa (198-2004) accounted for 12 points and 6 rebounds. Instituto's coach Ignacio Giambartolomei let to play all 12 players and allowed the starting five to rest. Guard Augusto Morales (185-2003) came up with 22 points and Enzo Facelli (-2003) added 17 points and 7 rebounds respectively for Olimpico in the defeat. Instituto will meet La Union in the next round and are hoping to win another game. Olimpico will play against Regatas and hope to win that game.

Very predictable result when Union won against San Lorenzo in Santa Fe 68-64 on Tuesday. However just four-point win is not that big difference and the fans of host team counted on more convincing victory. Guard Matias Cagliero (187-2005) nailed 13 points and 7 rebounds (perfect from the field making all six shots) for the winning side and Ulises Gonzalez (-2005) accounted for 13 points and 5 rebounds. Four Union players scored in double figures. Union's coach Marcos Chechele used an eleven-player rotation in such tough game. Nicolas Salomon came up with 16 points and 6 rebounds and Valentino Nesci added 12 points and 6 rebounds respectively for San Lorenzo in the defeat. Union will meet Ferro in the next round and it will be quite challenging to get another victory. San Lorenzo will have a break next round.
