BEBL Round 11 (Regular Season): Leader Hurricanes get another victory

Undefeated leader Hurricanes delivered the eighth consecutive win on Friday night. This time they crushed 6th ranked Trojans (2-8) 123-88 in Belmopan. Hurricanes dominated down low during the game scoring 64 of its points in the paint compared to Trojans' 40 and made 20-of-25 free shots (80.0 percent) during the game. They outrebounded Trojans 65-53 including 30 on the offensive glass. The best player for the winners was American point guard Amar Ross (170-2000, college: Bethesda) who scored 23 points, 8 rebounds and 8 assists. His fellow American import point guard Tyrie Orosco (196, college: Cent.Penn) chipped in 20 points and 14 rebounds. Guard Jayden Lopez produced a double-double by scoring 31 points and 10 rebounds for the hosts. The winner was already known earlier in the game, so both coaches allowed to play the bench players saving starting five for next games. Undefeated Hurricanes (8-0) have an impressive series of eight victories in a row. Defending champion maintains first place with a perfect record of 8 victories in a row. Trojans lost third consecutive game. Newly promoted team keep the sixth position with eight games lost. Hurricanes' supporters look forward to an exciting derby game next round, where their team will face at home their local rival from Belize City Defenders.

In the last game of round 11 Dream Ballers were defeated by Tiger Sharks in San Pedro 82-69.



Tiger Sharks - Dream Ballers 82-69

There was no surprise in San Pedro where 5th ranked Dream Ballers (3-5) were defeated by second ranked Tiger Sharks (6-3) 82-69 on Saturday. Tiger Sharks dominated down low during the game scoring 60 of its points in the paint compared to Dream Ballers' 32. Tiger Sharks forced 29 Dream Ballers turnovers and outrebounded them 50-37 including 18 on the offensive glass. The best player for the winners was American Richard Laku (206-1997, college: CSUSB) who had a double-double by scoring 20 points and 11 rebounds. The former international guard Jihad Wright (193-1993, college: UNCP) chipped in 18 points and 9 rebounds. Delvon Henderson (200-1991) produced a double-double by scoring 16 points, 16 rebounds and 6 blocks and American point guard Deshawn Brackett (178-2001) added 23 points and 5 rebounds respectively for the guests. Both coaches used bench players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Tiger Sharks have an impressive series of five victories in a row. They maintain second place with 6-3 record having just one point less than leader Hurricanes. Dream Ballers at the other side keep the fifth position with five games lost. Tiger Sharks are looking forward to face Trojans (#6) in Belmopan in the next round. Dream Ballers will have a break next round.
