Tenis - Saracho 68-95 Bottom-ranked Tenis (0-10) tried to put together a comeback for its first victory of the season, but they fell short in the 95-68 loss to sixth ranked Saracho (6-4) in on Friday evening. They made 19-of-21 free shots (90.5 percent) during the game. Saracho outrebounded Tenis 55-42 including a 46-34 advantage in defensive rebounds. They looked well-organized offensively handing out 21 assists. The best player for the winners was Argentinian forward Facundo Sanz (197-1996, agency: BIG) who had a double-double by scoring 20 points, 21 rebounds and 7 assists. Felipe Vedia chipped in 26 points and 4 assists. Four Saracho players scored in double figures. At the other side the best for losing team was Javier Balbuena who recorded a double-double by scoring 20 points and 13 rebounds and Martin Rios added 19 points, 7 rebounds and 4 assists respectively. The winner was already known earlier in the game, so both coaches allowed to play the bench players saving starting five for next games. Saracho have a solid three-game winning streak. They moved-up to fifth place. Tenis at the other side still closes the standings with ten games lost. Saracho are looking forward to face league's leader Pichincha at home in the next round and it may be quite challenging game. Tenis will play against San Simon (#3) and hope to get finally their first victory. Third ranked San Simon (7-3) played at the court of 8th ranked UNITEP (2-9). San Simon did not have too big problems and got a relatively easy victory 101-81. San Simon dominated down low during the game scoring 50 of its points in the paint compared to UNITEP's 28. UNITEP was plagued by 24 personal fouls down the stretch. It was a good game for American guard Akil McClain (188-1997, college: IU Kokomo) who led his team to a victory with a double-double by scoring 30 points, 10 rebounds, 4 assists and 4 steals. Argentinian power forward Gianfranco Sinconi (204-1994) contributed with 20 points and 7 rebounds for the winners. McClain is a former Eurobasket Summer League player, which is considered top international summer league in the market. Argentinian Nicolas Rodriguez replied with 22 points, 9 rebounds and 5 assists and forward Esteban Covarrubias (190-2001) added 14 points and 5 assists in the effort for UNITEP. Both teams had four players each who scored in double figures. Both coaches used bench players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. San Simon maintains third position with 7-3 record having just two points less than leader Pichincha. UNITEP lost fourth consecutive game. They keep the eighth place with nine games lost. San Simon will play against bottom-ranked Tenis (#9) in the next round where they are favorite. UNITEP will play against Atomico and it may be a tough game between close rivals. Worth to mention a great performance of Argentinian Joaquin Gamazo (198-1991) who helped to win the game recording 15 points, 8 rebounds and 6 assists and Argentinian Eduardo Gamboa (189-1984) who added 22 points and 5 rebounds during the contest. The best for the losing side was Argentinian guard Erbel De Pietro (185-1988) with a double-double by scoring 29 points and 10 rebounds (went 8 for 8 at the free throw line) and Argentinian Rodrigo Acuna (198-1995) scored 17 points. La Salle have a solid three-game winning streak. They moved-up to fourth place. Loser Atomico keeps the sixth position with five games lost. La Salle will meet league's second-placed Leones in the next round and it may be the game of the week. Atomico will play against UNITEP (#8) and it may be a tough game between close rivals. Worth to mention a great performance of American guard Thomas Cooper (196-1992, college: Calgary) who helped to win the game recording 35 points (!!!) and Argentinian forward Norberto Stucky (198-1994) who added 29 points and 8 rebounds during the contest. The best for the losing side was Argentinian center Sebastian Chaine (201-1986) with a double-double by scoring 29 points, 15 rebounds and 5 assists and American guard Haylen Washington (196-1994, college: Co.Georgia) scored 26 points. Leones maintains second position with 8-2 record behind leader Pichincha. Loser Univ.Sucre keeps the seventh place with eight games lost. Leones will meet at home La Salle (#4) in the next round. Univ.Sucre will have a break next round.
