Puerto Rico smashed Jamaica in the 2010 Centrobasket Finals. It means
that Puerto Rico won the Gold medal at this championship with the
perfect record (5-0). On the other side, the Silver belongs to Jamaica.
Both teams booked a spot for the 2011 FIBA-Americas Championship
(Pre-Olympic) and also for the 2011 Pan-American Games in Guadalajara.

quarter sending a clear signal they are going to take this one. However,
Jamaica improved in the second frame closing the gap to 30-37 until the
half time. Third quarter was the crucial one in this finals. Puerto Rico
intensified defense stopping Jamaica to just 5 points for ten minutes,
while they drained 20 on the other side. Puerto Rico was huge 22 points
up and question about the winner was resolved. They ended last quarter
13-15 for the final 48-72 victory and the Gold medal in Mayaguez.

Trinidad and Tobago - Mexico

Mexico won the Bronze in Mayaguez.
Erika Gomez (187-F/C-76) and her teammates outplayed Trinidad and
Tobago to finish 2010 Centrobasket as No.3. With this victory Mexico
also booked a ticket for the 2011 FIBA-Americas Championship
(Pre-Olympic).
Erika Gomez stepped up her team with 19 points and 10 rebounds. She
was the MVP of the game with valuation 22.
Abril Garcia (190-F/C-81, college:
ORU) followed her with 16 points and 7 boards, while
Brisa Silva (168-G-84, college:
Oklahoma St.) added 15 points.
Monica Garcia (87) helped with 10 pts and 8 assists. In the loosing

Dominican Republic - U.S. Virgin Islands

Dominican Republic is the fifth ranked team in Mayaguez. They blasted
the U.S. Virgin Islands in the crucial game for position No.5 ending
this event with two straight wins. Naturally, the ISV is No.6 in 2010
Centrobasket.
Charlenny Frias (84) was the leading scorer in victory with 21
points.
Johanna Morton (88) was behind her with 17 points and 7 assists.
Carmen Guzman (175-G-85, agency:

UAB) added 16 pts in this win. On the other side, the ISV got 26
points from
Yanique Javois (176-G-86, college:
Saint Louis).
Tamara Petersen (87) was the last player with double-digits in
scoring in this game with 12 points (6 rebs, 6 as). Domincan Republic
was a way better team in this meeting.
Charlenny Frias and her teammates dominated in all basketball
elements against the ISV. They finished first quarter with 25-14 and the
second one with 16-12 for nice 41-26 lead at the half time. Nothing has
changed after the breather. Dominican Republic still was the team who
dominated and finished Q3 with 22-16. They exploded in the last ten

Saint Vincent - Guatemala

Guatemala avoided the last place in Mayaguez. They destroyed Saint
Vincent 36-96 and finished as No.7 in 2010 Centrobasket Championship.
Saint Vincent ended dead last without a single win.
Emily Rosales (181-F-94) shined for Guatemala with 18 points and 6
rebounds.
Cynthia Rivera (180-F/C-82) also had important role adding 16 points
and 5 rebounds. Actually, Rivera was the MVP of this meeting with
valuation 23.
Blanca Amado (180-G/F-79) (5 rebs) and
Irma Loaiza (81) added 13 points each. Saint Vincent did not have
any player with double-digits in scoring.

Everything was clear after the first quarter in this game. Guatemala
shined at the both sides of the court scoring 20 pts in offense and

Jamaica outsmarted Trinidad and Tobago in very exciting game and
advanced to the Big Final in Mayaguez. Jamaica celebrated 62-59 in the
Semis and will fight for the Gold against Puerto Rico. On the other
hand, Trinidad and Tobago will play against Mexico for third place.

was the MVP of this meeting with valuation 24.
Tajay Ashmeade (191-C/F-89) was the second scorer in Jamaica with 12

half with totally different attitude. They managed to close the gap to 5
points before the last ten minutes. Trinidad and Tobago seriously
threatened in the finish, but Jamaica players were focused and managed
to keep their lead. The Big Final, as well as the game for third place,

Puerto Rico - Mexico

Puerto Rico continued its winning streak in Santo Domingo. It was their
fourth straight win, but this one came in Semifinals so Puerto Rico will
fight for the Gold against Jamaica. On the other side, Mexico will meet
Trinidad and Tobago in the battle for third place.

Alexis Castro and her teammates opened the game with nice 17-23 in
the first ten minutes. However, Puerto Rico players woke up after that
and drastically improved their game. They finished the second period
with 25-12 for 42-35 turn at the half time. Puerto Rico smashed Mexico
in Q3 as well (20-9) and the game winner was already decided. Last
quarter belonged to Mexico (16-19), but that did not change anything.
The Big Final, as well as the game for third place, is scheduled for
Wednesday. Both teams already qualified for the 2011 FIBA-Americas
Championship for Women (Pre-Olympic). Puerto Rico also booked a spot for

Expected win for Dominican Republic, who made the first step forward to
fifth place in Mayaguez. They had an easy job against Saint Vincent, who
stays winless at this event. Saint Vincent will meet Guatemala in the
game for seventh place.

The U.S. Virgin Islands cruised past Guatemala 63-79 in the first game
of the Classification Round for 5th to 8th place in Mayaguez. It means
that the ISV will meet Dominican Republic for position No.5. Guatemala
will play against Saint Vincent to avoid the last place at Centrobasket.
Yanique Javois (176-G-86, college:
Saint Louis) exploded in victory with 28 points. She made 9 of 14
attempts for FG2.
Natalie Day (183-G/F-90) also was great in this game adding 21
points and 8 rebounds. The ISV did not have any other player with
double-digits in scoring. In Guatemala,
Blanca Amado (180-G/F-79) replied with 26 points and 5 boards.
Maria Fleischmann (181-F/C-79) added 20 points and 8 rebs. The ISV
did a great job in the first half.
Yanique Javois and her teammates entered to this game strongly
making 10-21 lead in the first ten minutes. Second period ended 11-13
meaning that the ISV was 13 points up at the half time. Guatemala
slightly improved after the breather, but they needed a way more. The
ISV won Q3 with 18-21 and last one was totally leveled 24-24 for the
final score of 63-79.

Mexico - U.S. Virgin Islands

Mexico finished Preliminary Round as No.2 in Group A with 2-1 record. It
means that the host of the 2010 Centrobasket advanced to Semifinals,
where they will meet Puerto Rico. On the other side, the U.S. Virgin
Islands finished Preliminary Round winless as the last ranked team in
the group.

Jamaica finished the Preliminary Round in Mayaguez with perfect 3-0. It
means that Jamaica goes to Semifinals as No.1 of Group A and will meet
Trinidad and Tobago. Dominican Republic (1-2) failed to advance and will
move to Classification Round for 5th to 8th place.

Puerto Rico registered another easy win in Mayaguez. That is third
straight victory for them for the perfect score and position No.1 in
Group B at the end of the Preliminary Round. Thus, Puerto Rico will meet
Mexico in the Semifinals. We have Guatemala on the other side, who
finished as No.3 in this group with 1-2 score and will go to the
Classification Round for 5th to 8th place.

cut the margin a little but and that was all from them. Both Semifinals
games are scheduled for Tuesday. Guatemala will meet the U.S. Virgin
Islands at the same day (Classification Round).
Trinidad and Tobago - Saint Vincent

Easy win for Trinidad and Tobago, who finished Preliminary Round as No.2
in Group B with 2-1 record. T&T advanced to Semifinals, where they will
take on Jamaica. On the other side, Saint Vincent ended this stage with
three huge defeats. They will be transferred to Classification Round for
5th to 8th place.
Alicia Liverpool (188-C-85) was the leading scorer in victory with
20 points and she grabbed 9 rebounds beside that.
Rhea Codio (165-G-88) had 16 points and 10 assists, while
Sharmion Selman (183-F-83) also scored 16.

Saint Vincent,

won every single quarter in this game. They started with 23-9 in Q1 and
continued with 22-9 in the second period. It means that T&T was 45-18 up

Trinidad and Tobago blasted Guatemala so both teams have 1-1 score in
Group B. T&T faced with defeat against Puerto Rico in Day One, while
Guatemala was better than Saint Vincent. Now, T&T has way better chance
to reach the Semifinals.

Puerto Rico destroyed Saint Vincent for perfect 2-0 in Group B. It was
an expected win for the strong Puerto Rico team, whose main goal is to
take this championship. Saint Vincent on the other side already lost the
chance to reach the Semifinals and they will probably end this stage
winless.

Puerto Rico had an easy job against Trinidad and Tobago in Day One of
the 2010 Centrobasket. It was comfortable 50-69 win for Puerto Rico, who
has 1-0 in Preliminary Group B. Also in Day One, Guatemala destroyed
Saint Vincent 105-54 in this pool.

points.

country.

Stephanie Rosado and her teammates made nice 10-17 lead in the
opening quarter sending a clear signal that Trinidad will not have a
chance. Puerto Rico shined in Q2 as well (8-19) jumping to 18-36 lead at
the half time. Puerto Ricans slowed down after that, but still managed
to keep the big plus. Third quarter ended 14-16, while the last one
belonged to Trinidad and Tobago 18-17 for the final score 50-69. In Day
Two, Puerto Rico will meet Saint Vincent. Trinidad and Tobago will play
against Guatemala.
Saint Vincent - Guatemala
54-105
Guatemala destroyed Saint Vincent in Day One of the 2010 Centrobasket in
Mayaguez. It was a 54-105 blowout win for Guatemala, who jumped to 1-0
in Preliminary Group B. Beside Guatemala and Saint Vincent, other
participants of the same pool are Puerto Rico and Trinidad and Tobago.
Blanca Amado (180-G/F-79) top-scored for the winners with 25 points.
Cynthia Rivera (180-F/C-82) was the MVP of this game with valuation
31. She spent 23 minutes on the court registering 23 points and 5
boards.
Diana Crespo (177-G/F-85) helped her country with 17 pts. In defeat,
Sorayah Williams responded with 22 points and 10 boards. Tenicha
Afeefah Gittens had 13 pts. Guatemala totally smashed Saint Vincent in
the first quarter.
Blanca Amado and her teammates drained magnificent 35 points and at
the same time stopped their rivals to just five. It was a clear sign
what to expect for rest of the game. Still, Saint Vincent improved in
the second period loosing it just by one (21-22). Third quarter was
another good one for Guatemela (18-28), who jumped to impressive
39-point lead before the last frame. Last ten minutes ended 10-20 for
the final 54-105 blowout. In Day Two in Mayaguez, Guatemala will play
against Trinidad and Tobago. Saint Vincent will meet Puerto Rico.
