2012 Centrobasket begins today in Morovis

Everything is ready for the beginning of 2012 Centrobasket championship in Morovis. Eight countries participate at this event.

Group A: Mexico, Jamaica, Puerto Rico (host) and El Salvador.
Group B: Dominican Republic, Trinidad and Tobago, Cuba and Virgin Islands.

Two best teams from each pool will advance to Semifinals. They will automatically book a spot for the 2013 FIBA Americas Championship. Puerto Rico is the defending champion from 2010 Centrobasket in Mayaguez. They smashed Jamaica in the Finals with huge 72-48. Jazmine Sepulveda (186-G-85, agency: Merit Sports, college: S.Florida) shined for the winners with 20 points and 6 assists. Pamela Rosado had 11 points and 5 assists, while Stephanie Rosado (187-F-89) and Angiely Morales (180-SG-87) added 10 points each. Puerto Rico was the host of this event and finished it with perfect 5-0 score.

Today in Group A, Puerto Rico will meet Jamaica, while Mexico will play against El Salvador. In Group B, Dominican Republic will take on the US Virgin Islands and Cuba will meet Trinidad and Tobago.
