Dominican Republic thrashed Guatemala in the opener. Giocelis Reynoso (188-C, college: Cent.Conn.St., agency: Gamble Sports Management) scored 20 points and grabbed 16 rebounds to pace the winners. Dominican Republic accumulated a 49:18 halftime lead. They held Guatemala to just 11 points in the second half and rallied to the victory. Juladyy Zapata (175-SG-92) had 10 points for the winners. Linda Gonzalez (178-C-92) topscored with 13 points for Guatemala.

Bahamas - Puerto Rico 50-95
Puerto Rico stormed past Bahamas to open win count in Manati. The hosts went on a stunning 46:17 first half run to clear off. They added 49 points in the second half to cruise to the victory. Jazmon Gwathmey (188-G-93, college: JMU) and Allison Gibson (180-G/F-93, college: Oregon St.) delivered 12 points each for Puerto Rico. Leashia Grant (191-F-94, college: Trinity Valley CC) replied with 24 points and 10 rebounds for Bahamas.
Mexico - Costa Rica 77-42
Mexico cruised past Costa Rica in the first game in Group B. Mexico built a comfortable 42:18 halftime lead. They sank 35 points in the second half and cruised to the victory. Jacqueline Luna-Castro (188-F-93, college: Charleston) produced 16 points for Mexico. Jazmin Valenzuela (187-C-89) added 12 points and 7 rebounds for Mexico. Ana Matamoros (190-C-93) answered with 15 points and 12 rebounds for Costa Rica.
