Puerto Rico - U.S. Virgin Islands 73-69
Puerto Rico victoriously opened Centrobasket tournament. They beat US Virgin Islands in the opener. Pamela Rosado (165-PG-86) provided 18 points, 8 assists and 7 rebounds in the victory. US Virgin Islands secured a 39-33 halftime lead. But Puerto Rico turned things around in the second half. They erupted for 40 points in the second half and rallied to a narrow win at the end. Jada Stinson (173-G-99) finished with 16 points for Puerto Rico. Anisha George (188-C-98, college: N.Texas) responded with 30 points and 15 rebounds for US Virgin Islands.

Costa Rica - El Salvador 79-84
El Salvador beat Costa Rica to take the opening win in the Centrobasket tournament. The hosts rolled over Costa Rica in the first game in San Salvador. El Salvador secured a 24-15 lead after ten minutes. The hosts stayed in charge throughout the second and third periods. El Salvador entered the fourth quarter up by 13 points. Costa Rica drained 26 points in the final term but could not avoid the defeat. Aida Funes (167-PG-84) tallied 22 points, while Kimberly Villalobos (188-C-00) had 16 points and 11 rebounds for El Salvador. Silvia Betancourt (170-SG-89) responded with 29 points for Costa Rica.
