LNB2 Round 2: Sergio Ceppi lose to Stadio Italiano

There were only 2 rounds played so far and it's still very beginning of the Regular Season in LNB 2. Here is the last round review presented by Job Market.

The most crucial game of the last round was a loss of Sergio Ceppi in Santiago on Saturday night. Hosts were defeated by Stadio Italiano 71-64. The best player for the winners was the former international Ramiro Galvez (-1996) who scored 24 points and 6 rebounds. Guard Gabriel Soto (-2002) chipped in 21 points. Stadio Italiano's coach used an eleven-player rotation which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Boris Guerra (-1987) produced 26 points and 5 rebounds for the hosts. Stadio Italiano is looking forward to face Arabe de Valp. in Valparaiso in the next round, which may be the game of the day. Sergio Ceppi will play on the road against Sportiva Italiana in Valparaiso and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
Another exciting game was played in Santiago between Liceo PN and Colo Colo where Liceo PN beat Colo Colo on the road 77-67. Argentinian center Franco Barroso (207-1994) orchestrated the victory with a double-double by scoring 16 points and 15 rebounds. Giglio Linfati contributed with 14 points, 7 rebounds and 5 assists for the winners. Forward Lucas Thiebaut (-1999) replied with 14 points and 5 rebounds for Colo Colo. Colo Colo's coach rotated ten players in this game, but that didn't help. Liceo PN will play against Aleman in Puerto Varas in the next round and it will be for sure the game of the week. Colo Colo will play on the road against Truenos in Talca to get more than just one victory in their record.
A very close game took place in Puerto Varas between Aleman and Tomas L.. Aleman got a very close home victory over Tomas L.. Aleman managed to escape with a 3-point win 52-49 on Saturday evening. Host team only slightly avoided a big embarassment. Jose Campos scored 19 points, 8 rebounds, 5 assists and 5 steals to lead the charge for the winners. Vicente Cerda responded with a double-double by scoring 16 points and 10 rebounds. Tomas L.'s coach tried various players' combinations and tested in total eleven players, but that didn't help to avoid defeat in this game. Aleman will meet Liceo PN in the next round and it will be for sure the game of the week. Tomas L. will play against Liceo Curico and it may be a tough game between close rivals.

Rest of the games of round 2 were quite predictable and ended without any surprises. Here they are:
Sportiva Italiana crushed Boston College in Valparaiso 77-56. Arabe de Valp. smashed Brisas at home 75-34. Municipal C. won against Liceo Curico on the opponent's court 80-63.




Boston College - Sportiva Italiana 56-77

There was no surprise in Santiago where Boston College was crushed by Sportiva Italiana 77-56 on Saturday. Sportiva Italiana dominated down low during the game scoring 42 of its points in the paint compared to Boston College's 18. Sportiva Italiana forced 21 Boston College turnovers and outrebounded them 49-28 including a 35-21 advantage in defensive rebounds. Gaspar Hernandez (-1999) scored 12 points and 6 rebounds to lead the charge for the winners and forward Benjamin Herrera (-2003) chipped in 12 points and 5 rebounds during the contest. Forward Yves Orelus responded with 19 points and 5 rebounds and Lucas Marquez (196) scored 9 points and 8 rebounds. The winner was already known earlier in the game, so both coaches allowed to play the bench players saving starting five for next games. Sportiva Italiana will meet at home Sergio Ceppi in the next round. Boston College will play against Luis Matte and it may be a tough game between close rivals.

No shocking result in a game in Valparaiso where Arabe de Valp. smashed Brisas 75-34 on Saturday. Arabe de Valp. held Brisas to an opponent 16.7 percent shooting from the field compared to 45.8 percent accuracy of the winners. They outrebounded Brisas 52-36 including a 44-23 advantage in defensive rebounds. Pedro Soares had a double-double by scoring 13 points, 13 rebounds and 5 assists to lead the charge for the winners and Manuel Flores (180) chipped in 11 points during the contest. Four Arabe de Valp. players scored in double figures. Power forward Sascha Frings (202-1986) responded with 10 points and 6 rebounds and forward Camilo Pena (-2000) scored 9 points. The winner was already known earlier in the game, so both coaches allowed to play the bench players saving starting five for next games. Liceo Curico - Municipal C. 63-80

We cannot really consider it an upset in the game between close teams when Liceo Curico was defeated at home by Municipal C. 80-63 on Sunday. Municipal C. made 16-of-21 free shots (76.2 percent) during the game. Municipal C. outrebounded Liceo Curico 44-30 including 30 on the defensive glass. Center Matias Villagran (199-1988) had a double-double by scoring 12 points and 12 rebounds to lead the charge for the winners and Argentinian forward Andres Martinez (-1987) chipped in 11 points and 8 rebounds during the contest. Four Municipal C. players scored in double figures. Municipal C.'s coach used entire bench and allowed the starting five to rest. Venezuelan Keinder Albarran responded with 24 points and 4 assists and Joaquin Lopez scored 10 points and 8 rebounds. Municipal C. will have a break next round, and it should allow them to practice more before next game. Liceo Curico will play against Tomas L. in San Fernando and it may be a tough game between close rivals.

Forward Giglio Linfati (-1992) contributed with 14 points, 7 rebounds and 5 assists for the winners. Four Liceo PN players scored in double figures. Forward Lucas Thiebaut (-1999) replied with 14 points and 5 rebounds and forward Rodrigo Rubio (-2001) added 10 points in the effort for Colo Colo. Colo Colo's coach rotated ten players in this game, but that didn't help. Liceo PN will play against Aleman in Puerto Varas in the next round and it will be for sure the game of the week. Colo Colo will play on the road against Truenos in Talca to get more than just one victory in their record.
