LNB Round 27: Los Leones defeat Ancud in the game between Top 4 teams

There are only two more rounds left in the Regular Season in LNB. Here is the last round review presented by Job Market.

An interesting game for Los Leones (21-4) which played road game in Ancud against 3rd placed Ancud (17-7). Second ranked Los Leones had an easy win 99-77. Los Leones outrebounded Ancud 39-23 including 29 on the defensive glass. They shot the lights out from three sinking 17 long-distance shots on high 51.5 percentage. It was a good game for American power forward Markus Kennedy (206-1991, college: SMU) who led his team to a victory with a double-double by scoring 13 points, 10 rebounds and 6 assists. The former international forward Darrol Jones (193-1994) contributed with 20 points and 5 assists for the winners. Los Leones' coach felt very confident that he used 10 players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. American forward Stephen Maxwell (201-1993, college: CSUN) answered with a double-double by scoring 32 points and 11 rebounds for Ancud. Los Leones have a solid series of four victories in a row. They maintain second place with 21-4 record having just three points less than leader Concepcion. Ancud at the other side keeps the third position with seven games lost. They share it with Puente Alto. Los Leones are looking forward to face Valdivia (#6) at home in the next round. Ancud will play against Espanol T. in Talca and is hoping to prove to their supporters that the loss was just an accident.

It was a great evening for American forward Miles Bowman Jr (198-1993, college: High Point) who led his team to a victory with a double-double by scoring 30 points and 17 rebounds. Jerry Evans helped adding 22 points and 5 rebounds. The best for the losing side was American forward Chris Perry (203-1994, college: LMU) with a double-double by scoring 33 points (!!!) and 14 rebounds. Defending champion maintains first place with 23-3 record. Quilicura at the other side keeps the eighth position with 11 games lost. Concepcion will play against Puerto Varas (#10) at home in the next round and are hoping to win another game. Quilicura will play against Las Animas in Valdivia and hopes to get back on the winning track.
The game between 11th ranked Puerto Montt (9-18) and seventh ranked Espanol O. (15-13) in Puerto Montt on Sunday ended with biggest points difference. Guests from Osorno outscored Puerto Montt 95-47. It ended at the same time the two-game winning streak of Puerto Montt. It was a quality performance for DeAndre Daniels who led the winners and scored 18 points and 5 rebounds. Josh Morris came up with a double-double by scoring 10 points and 11 rebounds for Puerto Montt in the defeat. The winner was already known earlier in the game, so both coaches allowed to play the bench players saving starting five for next games. Espanol O. maintains seventh place with 15-13 record. Loser Puerto Montt keeps the eleventh position with 18 games lost. Espanol O. will meet at home higher ranked Puente Alto (#3) in the next round and it will be quite challenging to get another victory. Puerto Montt will have a break next round.

In the last two games of round 27 Las Animas beat Puerto Varas on the road 88-76. Valdivia destroyed Tinguiririca on its own court 90-57.
The most impressive performance of 27th round was 21 points and 9 rebounds by Angel Ibanez of Tinguiririca.




Quilicura - Concepcion 83-89

LNB top team - Concepcion (23-3) added another victory to their record. This time they beat eighth ranked Quilicura (13-11) 89-83. It ended at the same time the three-game winning streak of Quilicura. Concepcion made 21-of-23 charity shots (91.3 percent) during the game. It was a great evening for American forward Miles Bowman Jr (198-1993, college: High Point) who led his team to a victory with a double-double by scoring 30 points and 17 rebounds. His fellow American import forward Jerry Evans (203-1990, college: Nevada) helped adding 22 points and 5 rebounds. The best for the losing side was American forward Chris Perry (203-1994, college: LMU) with a double-double by scoring 33 points (!!!) and 14 rebounds and Facundo Fernandez scored 14 points and 6 assists. Defending champion maintains first place with 23-3 record. Quilicura at the other side keeps the eighth position with 11 games lost. Concepcion will play against Puerto Varas (#10) at home in the next round and are hoping to win another game. Quilicura will play against Las Animas in Valdivia and hopes to get back on the winning track.

The game between 11th ranked Puerto Montt (9-18) and seventh ranked Espanol O. (15-13) in Puerto Montt on Sunday ended with biggest points difference. Guests from Osorno outscored Puerto Montt 95-47. It ended at the same time the two-game winning streak of Puerto Montt. Espanol O. dominated down low during the game scoring 50 of its points in the paint compared to Puerto Montt's 22 and made 18-of-22 free shots (81.8 percent) during the game. Espanol O. forced 29 Puerto Montt turnovers and outrebounded them 41-30 including 30 on the defensive glass. They looked well-organized offensively handing out 26 assists comparing to just 8 passes made by Puerto Montt's players. It was a quality performance for American forward DeAndre Daniels (206-1992, college: UConn, agency: BIG) who led the winners and scored 18 points and 5 rebounds. Point guard Hector Gomez (188-1987) accounted for 15 points for the winning side. Four Espanol O. players scored in double figures. American forward Josh Morris (203-1993, college: UTPB) came up with a double-double by scoring 10 points and 11 rebounds and point guard Camilo Torres (183-1998) added 10 points and 6 rebounds respectively for Puerto Montt in the defeat. Puerto Varas - Las Animas 76-88

No shocking result in a game when fifth ranked Las Animas (16-10) beat on the road 10th ranked Puerto Varas (11-16) 88-76 on Sunday. Las Animas dominated down low during the game scoring 66 of its points in the paint compared to Puerto Varas' 32. They looked well-organized offensively handing out 29 assists comparing to just 16 passes made by Puerto Varas' players. It was an exceptional evening for American forward Shawn Glover (201-1990, college: ORU, agency: Haylett Sports) who led the winners with a double-double by scoring 33 points (!!!) and 10 rebounds. Argentinian power forward Cristian Amicucci (200-1985) accounted for 19 points and 16 rebounds for the winning side. Argentinian Tomas Rossi (202) came up with a double-double by scoring 22 points and 14 rebounds and Uruguayan guard Martin Trelles (187-1996) added 14 points, 5 rebounds and 7 assists respectively for Puerto Varas in the defeat. Puerto Varas' coach Leonardo Monsalvez rotated ten players in this game, but that didn't help. Las Animas maintains fifth place with 16-10 record, which they share with Valdivia. Puerto Varas lost fourth consecutive game. They keep the tenth position with 16 games lost. Las Animas will meet at home Quilicura (#8) in the next round. Puerto Varas will play against the league's leader Concepcion and hope to secure a win.

Very expected game when 14th ranked Tinguiririca (3-22) was smashed on the road by sixth ranked Valdivia (16-10) 90-57 on Sunday. Valdivia forced 22 Tinguiririca turnovers. They looked well-organized offensively handing out 22 assists. It was an exceptional evening for American center Roquez Johnson (201-1992, college: MSU, agency: BIG) who led the winners with a double-double by scoring 12 points and 10 rebounds. The former international point guard Pedro Sandoval (180-1989) accounted for 17 points for the winning side. Four Valdivia players scored in double figures. Cuban guard Angel Ibanez (190-1990) came up with 21 points and 9 rebounds and forward Felipe Gonzalez Burgos (183-1998) added 13 points, 7 rebounds and 4 assists respectively for Tinguiririca in the defeat. Since the result was very predictable, it gave the chance for the coaches to test many bench players and allowed the starting five to rest. Valdivia have an impressive series of five victories in a row. They moved-up to fifth place, which they share with Las Animas. Tinguiririca lost tenth consecutive game. They keep the fourteenth position with 22 games lost. Valdivia will meet league's second-placed Los Leones in the next round and it will be quite challenging to get another victory. Tinguiririca will play against Castro (#9) and hope to secure a win.
