Cup Round 6 (Regular Season): Las Animas lose to Ancud in the game between Top 4 teams

CUP is at the halfway of the Regular Season and there are still another 6 rounds left. Here is the last round review presented by LBM Management.

The game between Top Four teams took place in Ancud. Second ranked host Ancud (5-1) defeated 3rd ranked Las Animas (4-3) 83-77. It ended at the same time the four-game winning streak of Las Animas. Ancud made 16-of-21 free shots (76.2 percent) during the game. American forward Dennis McKinney (194-1998, college: Mt.Mercy, agency: GoEmpire Group) scored 38 points (!!!) and 8 rebounds to lead the charge for the winners and forward Ricardo Armijo (194-1995) chipped in 15 points and 7 rebounds during the contest. The best for the losing side was Argentinian power forward Cristian Amicucci (200-1985) with a double-double by scoring 16 points and 14 rebounds. Ancud have a solid three-game winning streak. They keep a position of league leader, which they share with 3 other teams. Las Animas at the other side keep the third place with three games lost. They share the position with Espanol O.. Ancud is looking forward to face Castro (#7) on the road in the next round where they are favorite. Las Animas will play against Espanol O. (#3) in Osorno and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
CUP top team - Valdivia (5-1) managed to deliver another win. This time they beat sixth ranked Puerto Montt (0-4) 73-61. Fabian Martinez (194-2000) notched a double-double by scoring 23 points and 10 rebounds to lead the effort and Erik Carrasco supported him with 16 points and 5 rebounds. Valdivia's coach allowed to play the deep bench players saving starting five for next games. Even 21 points and 7 rebounds (on 7-of-9 shooting from the field) by point guard Camilo Torres (183-1998) did not help to save the game for Puerto Montt. Valdivia maintains first position with 5-1 record, which they share with 3 other teams. Puerto Montt at the other side still closes the standings with four games lost. Valdivia will have a break next round, and it should allow them to practice more before next game. Puerto Montt will play at home against Puerto Varas (#5) and hopes to get finally their first victory.
Third ranked Tinguiririca blasted bottom-ranked Espanol T. (0-5) in San Fernando 86-47 on Sunday evening. Espanol T. is still unable to win any game. The best player for the winners was Gianncarlo Caraboni who scored 22 points and 7 rebounds. At the other side the best for losing team was Carlos Ordenes who recorded 14 points and 6 rebounds. Espanol T.'s coach gave up on the game allowing to play twelve players seeing no chance for a win. Tinguiririca (5-1) have an impressive five-game winning streak. They keep a position of league leader, which they share with 3 other teams. Loser Espanol T. still closes the standings with five games lost. Tinguiririca will meet Catolica (#5) in the next round. Espanol T. will have a break next round.

In the last two games of round 6 winless Liceo PN was destroyed by Concepcion on the opponent's court 144-76. Winless Castro unfortunately lost to Espanol O. in a home game 73-84.
The most impressive stats of the last round was 24 points and 22 rebounds by Yahota Rasas of Castro.

Tinguiririca - Espanol T. 86-47

Third ranked Tinguiririca blasted bottom-ranked Espanol T. (0-5) in San Fernando 86-47 on Sunday evening. Espanol T. is still unable to win any game. Tinguiririca shot 25 for 35 from the free-throw line, while Espanol T. only scored three points from the stripe. Tinguiririca forced 32 Espanol T. turnovers. The best player for the winners was the former international forward Gianncarlo Caraboni who scored 22 points and 7 rebounds. American guard RJ Smith (198-1997, college: MSSU) chipped in 23 points and 5 rebounds (went 10 for 10 at the free throw line !!!). At the other side the best for losing team was guard Carlos Ordenes (185) who recorded 14 points and 6 rebounds and forward Simon Davies (-2003) added 10 points respectively. Concepcion - Liceo PN 144-76

Very expected game when bottom-ranked Liceo PN (0-6) was crushed on the road by third ranked Concepcion (5-1) 144-76 on Sunday. Concepcion dominated down low during the game scoring 78 of its points in the paint compared to Liceo PN's 34. They outrebounded Liceo PN 53-16 including a 22-3 advantage in offensive rebounds. Concepcion looked well-organized offensively handing out 35 assists comparing to just 9 passes made by Liceo PN's players. The best player for the winners was Michael Rivera (-2001) who had a double-double by scoring 22 points and 16 rebounds. The former international Evandro Arteaga (178-1983) chipped in 22 points and 7 rebounds. Concepcion's coach felt very confident using 11 players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. At the other side the best for losing team was guard Pablo Campos who recorded 13 points and 5 rebounds and Michael Ernst (187-1982) added 16 points respectively. Five Concepcion and four Liceo PN players scored in double figures. Concepcion have an impressive five-game winning streak. Defending champion keeps a position of league leader, which they share with 3 other teams. Loser Liceo PN still closes the standings with six games lost. They share the position with Castro. The best player for the winners was the former international Carlos Lauler (190) who scored 27 points, 6 rebounds and 5 assists. The former international Sebastian Suarez (193-1991, college: Portland St.) chipped in 20 points and 6 rebounds. Espanol O.'s coach used an eleven-player rotation which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games.
