The most exciting game of round 12 in the CUP took place in Santiago. This derby game ended with only one-point defeat on the road of one of their biggest challengers Puente Alto (6-7) to fifth ranked Catolica (5-8) 72-71 on Sunday evening. Catolica made 16-of-19 free shots (84.2 percent) during the game. The best player for the winners was forward Rodrigo Rojas (-1997) who scored 20 points (went 7 for 7 at the free throw line). Juan Aguayo (-2003) chipped in 15 points and 8 rebounds. At the other side the best for losing team was Argentinian forward Martin Chervo (200) who recorded a double-double by scoring 29 points and 10 rebounds. Puente Alto's coach tried various players' combinations and tested in total eleven players in this game, but that didn't help. Catolica maintains fifth position with 5-8 record. Puente Alto lost third consecutive game. They keep the fourth place with seven games lost.
An exciting game between Top Four teams was played in Valdivia. Third ranked Espanol faced second-best Valdivia. Guests from Osorno (9-4) smashed host Valdivia (9-3) 73-49. It was a good game for American center Arnold Louis (201-1990, college: SSU) who led his team to a victory with 28 points and 9 rebounds. Benjamin Amor contributed with 9 points, 9 rebounds and 7 assists for the winners. Santiago Soulodre (195-1998) replied with 12 points and 7 rebounds for Valdivia. The winner was already known earlier in the game, so both coaches allowed to play the bench players saving starting five for next games. Espanol have a solid four-game winning streak. They maintain third position with 9-4 record having just three points less than leader Ancud. Valdivia at the other side keeps the second place with three games lost.
Puerto Montt can celebrate finally their first win this season after 11 consecutive losses. They used home court advantage to defeat Castro (1-12) 99-93 on Sunday. Worth to mention a great performance of Johany Gallardo who helped to win the game recording 26 points and 5 assists. The best for the losing side was Yahuza Rasas with a double-double by scoring 23 points and 17 rebounds. Castro's coach let to play eleven players, but that didn't help to avoid defeat in this game. Puerto Montt (1-11) left bottom position moving up to sixth place. Loser Castro dropped to the seventh position with 12 games lost.
In the last two games of round 12 Ancud defeated Puerto Varas in a road game 93-79. Winless Espanol was beaten by Liceo PN at home 57-63.
