Coincidentally all hosts won their games. Here is the last round review presented by Job Market.

The most interesting game was a derby match between two local teams from Santiago: Colo Colo (#1) and Boston College (#7). Colo Colo (8-0) smashed visiting Boston College (4-5) by 19 points 75-56. Colo Colo forced 26 Boston College turnovers and outrebounded them 47-34 including 33 on the defensive glass. Colo Colo looked well-organized offensively handing out 22 assists. Point guard Diego Valenzuela (185-1994) orchestrated the victory with a double-double by scoring 20 points, 12 rebounds and 5 assists. American forward Devaughn Jenkins (201-1995, college: Angelo St.) contributed with 18 points and 10 rebounds for the winners. Forward Vicente Schulz (-2002) replied with 21 points and 7 rebounds for Boston College. Both coaches used bench players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Undefeated Colo Colo have an impressive eight-game winning streak. They maintain first position with 8-0 record. Boston College at the other side dropped to the eighth place with five games lost. They share the position with Truenos. Colo Colo are looking forward to face Aleman (#4) in Puerto Varas in the next round. Boston College will play at home against Arturo Prat (#11) and is hoping to prove to their fans that this time they can win.
Bottom-ranked Brisas is still unable to win any game. This time they lost on the road their eighth consecutive match to third ranked Stadio Italiano (6-3) 66-60. Worth to mention a great performance of Piero Simonetti who helped to win the game recording 13 points and 6 rebounds and Simon Anriquez who added 11 points during the contest. Power forward Sascha Frings (202-1986) responded with a double-double by scoring 17 points, 10 rebounds and 4 assists. Both coaches tested many bench players and allowed the starting five to rest. Stadio Italiano maintains third position with 6-3 record having just one point less than leader Colo Colo. Brisas at the other side still closes the standings with eight games lost. They share the position with Arturo Prat. Stadio Italiano will play against Arabe de Valp. (#5) in Valparaiso in the next round. Brisas will play at home against Truenos (#8) and hope to get finally their first victory.
Bottom-ranked Arturo Prat is still unable to win any game. This time they lost on the road their eighth consecutive match to ninth ranked Truenos (4-5) 87-84 on Saturday evening. The winners were led by Alessandro Morales who scored that evening 24 points and 5 assists. Truenos' coach Carlos Morales used an eleven-player rotation in such tough game. Even 22 points and 5 rebounds by Carlos Romero did not help to save the game for Arturo Prat. Truenos have a solid three-game winning streak. They moved-up to eighth place, which they share with Boston College. Loser Arturo Prat still closes the standings with eight games lost. They share the position with Brisas. Truenos will meet bottom-ranked Brisas (#12) in the next round. Arturo Prat will play against Boston College in Santiago and looks forward to get finally their first victory.

There were no big surprises in other games of round 8: Luis Matte was beaten by Aleman on the road 80-66. Sergio Ceppi won against Quilpue on its own court 82-73. Aleman unfortunately lost to Truenos in Talca 65-77.




Stadio Italiano - Brisas 66-60

Everything could happen in Puerto Varas at the game between two tied teams. Both sixth ranked Aleman and 5th ranked Luis Matte had identical 4-3 record. This time Aleman used a home court advantage and beat the opponent from 80-66 on Saturday night. Aleman (5-3) moved-up to fourth place. Loser Luis Matte dropped to the sixth position with four games lost. They share it with Quilpue. Aleman will meet league's leader Colo Colo in the next round and it may be the game of the week. Luis Matte will play against Stadio Italiano (#3) and hope to secure a win.

Sergio Ceppi - Quilpue 82-73

Very expected game when 6th ranked Quilpue (4-4) lost to second ranked Sergio Ceppi (7-2) in Santiago 73-82 on Saturday. Sergio Ceppi dominated down low during the game scoring 56 of its points in the paint compared to Quilpue's 34. They outrebounded Quilpue 45-28 including a 36-20 advantage in defensive rebounds. Sergio Ceppi looked well-organized offensively handing out 23 assists. The winners were led by forward Gabriel Gonzalez who had that evening a double-double by scoring 23 points and 15 rebounds and forward Elias Donoso supported him with 15 points and 12 rebounds. Even 24 points and 8 rebounds by Jose Toledo (-2002) did not help to save the game for Quilpue. Hilario Sanchez (-1999) added 14 points, 7 rebounds, 8 assists and 4 steals for the guests. Both teams had four players each who scored in double figures. Sergio Ceppi maintains second position with 7-2 record behind leader Colo Colo. Loser Quilpue keeps the sixth place with four games lost. They share the position with Luis Matte. Sergio Ceppi will meet Arabe de Valp. (#5) in the next round. Quilpue will have a break next round.

Four Truenos players scored in double figures. Even 17 points and 9 rebounds by center Sebastian Pereira (203-2005) did not help to save the game for Aleman. Forward Jose Campos (-2002) added 17 points for the guests. Aleman's coach rotated twelve players in this game, but that didn't help. Truenos have a solid three-game winning streak. They moved-up to eighth place, which they share with Boston College. Loser Aleman dropped to the fourth position with three games lost. Truenos will meet bottom-ranked Brisas (#12) in the next round. Aleman will play against the league's leader Colo Colo (#1) and will have a slim chance for a victory.
