LNF Round 8 (Regular Season): Puente Alto beat Gimnastico in the most crucial game of the week

There are only two more rounds left in the Regular Season in LNF. Here is the last round review presented by LBM Management.

An exciting game between Top Four teams was played in Vina del Mar. First ranked Puente Alto faced 4th ranked Gimnastico. Guests from Santiago (7-1) defeated host Gimnastico (2-6) 62-51. Puente Alto forced 22 Gimnastico turnovers. The best player for the winners was American guard Kwanza Murray (170-1996, college: Lincoln, PA) who scored 20 points, 7 rebounds, 4 assists and 4 steals. The former international guard Fernanda Ovalle (178-2003, college: Xavier) chipped in 12 points and 6 rebounds. Puente Alto's coach used an eleven-player rotation which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Venezuelan power forward Gisell Ramirez (183-2004) produced a double-double by scoring 13 points and 14 rebounds for the hosts. Puente Alto have an impressive six-game winning streak. They maintain first position with 7-1 record, which they share with Sportiva Ita. Gimnastico lost third consecutive game. They keep the fourth place with six games lost. They share the position with Sergio Ceppi. Puente Alto's supporters look forward to an exciting derby game next round, where their team will face at home their local rival from Santiago Brisas.
The game in Santiago supposed to be also worth to mention about. Third ranked Los Leones (5-3) played at the court of 6th ranked Brisas (1-7). Los Leones smashed Brisas 103-64. American forward Akilah Bethel (183-1993, college: LSU) orchestrated the victory with a double-double by scoring 25 points, 13 rebounds, 4 assists and 4 steals. Alexus Johnson contributed with 16 points and 7 rebounds for the winners. Maria Mancilla (-2007) replied with 19 points for Brisas. The winner was already known earlier in the game, so both coaches allowed to play the bench players saving starting five for next games. Los Leones maintains third position with 5-3 record having just two point less than leader Puente Alto. Brisas at the other side keep the sixth place with seven games lost. Los Leones will play against league's second-placed Sportiva Ita. in Valparaiso in the next round and it will be for sure the game of the week. There was no surprise in Paillaco where 5th ranked Univ. Austral (1-5) was crushed by second ranked Alemana (4-2) 91-64 on Sunday. Alemana made 24-of-27 free shots (88.9 percent) during the game. Alemana outrebounded Univ. Austral 57-24 including a 42-17 advantage in defensive rebounds. Great defensive blocking was one of the keys in this match when Alemana made 7 blocks. Worth to mention a great performance of the former international center Ziomara Morrison (194-1989) who helped to win the game recording a double-double by scoring 28 points and 18 rebounds (was perfect 11-for-11 from the free throw line !!!) and Italian-Argentinian Daniela Dublo (184-1988) who added 18 points and 22 rebounds during the contest.
