The most crucial game of the last round was a loss of Puente Alto (2-1) in San Pablo on Saturday night. Visitors were defeated by Los Leones (4-0) 80-68. Los Leones forced 26 Puente Alto turnovers. 29 personal fouls committed by Puente Alto helped opponents get some easy free throw opportunities. The best player for the winners was American center Alexus Johnson (197-1994, college: Texas Southern) who had a double-double by scoring 29 points and 15 rebounds. International point guard Javiera Campos (163-2002) chipped in 16 points and 6 assists. At the other side the best for losing team was Colombian guard Manuela Rios (163-1997) who recorded 31 points, 5 rebounds, 7 assists and 6 steals. Both coaches used bench players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games.
Another exciting game was a derby match between two teams from Santiago: Puente Alto (#3) and Brisas (#6). Puente Alto (2-1) crushed visiting Brisas (0-4) by 68 points 109-41. It was a good game for Colombian guard Manuela Rios (163-1997) who led her team to a victory with 20 points, 7 rebounds, 8 assists and 5 steals. Damaris Alarcon contributed with 13 points, 5 rebounds and 7 assists for the winners. Maria Mancilla (-2007) answered with 16 points for Brisas. The winner was already known earlier in the game, so both coaches allowed to play the bench players saving starting five for next games.
An exciting game was played in Concepcion. Univ.Concepcion faced Univ. Austral. Host Univ.Concepcion (2-0) smashed guests from Puerto Montt (0-1) 101-40. It was a great evening for Barbara Cousino who led her team to a victory scoring 18 points, 9 rebounds, 4 assists and 7 steals. The best for the losing side was Sofia Leichtle with 17 points and 6 rebounds.
