The most shocking disappointment of round 8 was a home defeat of second-ranked Univ. Austral (2-4) to third ranked Alemana (3-3) 77-65 in the game for the second place. It was a key game for the second position in the league. Alemana outrebounded Univ. Austral 47-34 including 36 on the defensive glass. Alemana looked well-organized offensively handing out 22 assists. Worth to mention a great performance of Italian-Argentinian Daniela Dublo (184-1988) who helped to win the game recording a double-double by scoring 16 points, 16 rebounds and 4 assists and who added 21 points and 9 rebounds during the contest. Alemana P.'s coach used entire bench which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. responded with 21 points and 9 rebounds. Alemana moved-up to second place. Univ. Austral at the other side dropped to the third position with four games lost.
Another interesting game was a derby match between two teams from Santiago: Puente Alto (#2) and Brisas (#6). Brisas were smashed at home by 59 points 33-92 and even the fact of playing on their own court did not help. The winners were led by who had that evening a double-double by scoring 14 points, 15 rebounds, 5 assists and 4 steals and Catalina Ramirez supported her with 12 points, 9 rebounds and 9 assists. The game between Top Four teams took place in Vina del Mar. 4th ranked host Gimnastico (3-6) was smashed by third ranked Sportiva Ita. (7-1) 93-59. The best player for the winners was Lydia Rivers who had a double-double by scoring 13 points and 14 rebounds. Coach 's team controlled all game and the coach could let to play all 12 players and allowed the starting five to rest. Sonya Morris produced 21 points and 8 rebounds (was perfect 9-for-9 from the free throw line !!!) for the hosts. Defending champion keeps a position of league leader, which they share with Puente Alto. Loser Gimnastico keeps the fourth place with six games lost. Sportiva Ita. will meet at home Los Leones (#3) in the next round, which may be the game of the day. Gimnastico will play against Brisas in Santiago and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
In the last game of round 8 Sergio Ceppi was destroyed by Los Leones on the opponent's court 92-35.
