2029 FIBA AmeriCup Pre-Qualifiers: Antigua and Barbuda Erase Early Deficit to Rout Bermuda

Bermuda looked to be in command early, building a nine-point cushion in the first quarter and holding onto the lead well into the second at the Cliff Anderson Sports Hall. Then Antigua and Barbuda's defense woke up. A T-Shawn Lewis layup with 5:39 left in the second quarter gave the visitors their first lead of the game completing a stretch in which they forced six turnovers while committing just one of their own and from there the game tilted entirely their way, eventually finishing as an 82-50 blowout in Group Phase action on July 8, 2026.
Xavier Spencer (185-G-2004, college: Morton CC) and Jaden Andrew (185-G-2004) each finished with 14 points, three steals apiece, and Spencer added five assists on efficient shooting. Alexis Jackson (216-C-2000) controlled the boards with a 10-point, 10-rebound double-double, and Cohen Desouza (201-F-1994) chipped in 10 points on a perfect 6-of-6 from the line without a single turnover. Malachi Scott (203-F-2004, college: WOU) led Bermuda with 14 points and eight rebounds, but the hosts' early defensive intensity faded once Antigua and Barbuda found their footing in the second quarter.
