2029 FIBA AmeriCup Pre-Qualifiers: Simeus Anchors Another Haiti Blowout- July 13, 2026

Haiti closed out its Group Phase campaign the same way it played most of the window: overwhelmingly. The team never trailed against the Cayman Islands at the Cliff Anderson Sports Hall on July 12, 2026, building a commanding halftime lead and simply pouring it on from there, eventually winning 104-48 behind a 17-0 run that bridged the second and third quarters and pushed the margin as high as 59 points.
Simeus Webster (203-C-1998, college: York, NE) was nearly flawless, going 10-of-12 from the field for a 23-point, 10-rebound double-double without a single foul, and Jean Ulysse (191-SG-2000) orchestrated the offense with 11 points and a game-high nine assists. Wadson Ambroise (193-SG-1993) added 19 points and three steals without a turnover. Shaad O'Garro (199-F-1990, college: LeMoyne-Owen) fought hard for the Cayman Islands with 12 points, four steals and two blocks, but the visitors had no answer for Haiti's depth on either end. With group play now complete in Georgetown, Barbados (4-0) and Antigua and Barbuda (3-1) topped their respective groups and have advanced to the FIBA AmeriCup 2029 Pre-Qualifiers Second Round, joining Costa Rica already through via the Central American Pre-Qualifiers and Cuba, Jamaica, Nicaragua and Venezuela, who qualify via their First Round exits from the FIBA World Cup 2027 American Qualifiers. A South American representative has yet to be determined. |
