2029 FIBA AmeriCup Pre-Qualifiers: Shad Thomas Powers St. Vincent and the Grenadines Past Grenada

Grenada made a fight of it early, briefly grabbing a one-point lead in the opening quarter at the Cliff Anderson Sports Hall on July 8, 2026. But St. Vincent and the Grenadines gradually asserted control from there, and when Shad Thomas (201-F-2001, college: Azusa Pacific) answered a Grenada tying basket with a fast-break layup midway through the third quarter, the game tilted decisively an 85-66 win that saw St. Vincent and the Grenadines lead for nearly 34 of the 40 minutes.
Thomas was outstanding across the board, finishing with 20 points, 10 rebounds and five assists on 10-of-15 shooting in barely 20 minutes on the floor, punctuating his night with two highlight dunks. Chrisford Telesford (196-F-1988) added 17 points on efficient three-point shooting, Phillip Lawrence-Ricks (203-SF-1994) contributed 13 points and three steals without a turnover, and Darreo Glasgow (188-G-1997) rounded out the effort with nine points, 11 rebounds and five assists. Kevin Cox (190-G-1993, college: UDC) led Grenada with 17 points, seven rebounds and five assists, but the visitors couldn't sustain their competitive start once St. Vincent and the Grenadines pulled away for good in the third.
