2029 FIBA AmeriCup Pre-Qualifiers: Wiggins Lifts Guyana Past Antigua and Barbuda in OT

This one had everything: double-digit swings in both directions, a furious Antigua and Barbuda rally to force overtime, and a home crowd that finally got to celebrate. Guyana trailed by 10 in the third quarter and again briefly late, only to answer with a 9-0 fourth-quarter run that flipped a tied game their way before Antigua and Barbuda ripped off 12 unanswered points spanning the end of regulation and into overtime to seize the lead right back. It came down to the final possessions, and Kevon Wiggins (190-G/F-2000) delivered every one of them, tying the game with a transition layup with 2:27 left in overtime and scoring all six of Guyana's crunch-time points to secure a 75-73 win on July 10, 2026.
Wiggins finished with 24 points, four steals and a perfect 5-of-5 from the line, his fingerprints all over the game's most important moments. Umar Rashid (198-F-2003, college: CWRU) added 21 points and eight rebounds without a single turnover in support. Xavier Spencer (185-G-2004, college: Morton CC) led the way for Antigua and Barbuda in the loss with 16 points across a game-high 44 minutes, but his teammates couldn't quite find the answer down the stretch Preston Merrick (196-SG-2006)'s potential game-tying three in the final minute of overtime rimmed out, and Guyana's composure at the line closed it out.
