Venezuela defeated Panama 77–73 in a tightly contested game that swung back and forth across four quarters. Venezuela came out strong in the first period with a 23–17 lead, but Panama responded with an impressive 22–11 run in the second quarter to go into halftime ahead 39–34. The third quarter was more balanced, with Venezuela slightly edging Panama 19–16 to cut the deficit to just two points. In the decisive fourth quarter, Venezuela surged ahead with a 24–18 finish, overcoming Panama’s advantage and sealing the hard-fought victory.
David Cubillan (181-PG-1987, college: Marquette) stepped up with 15 points and Yohanner Sifontes (192-G-1995) netted 14. Ezequiel Bell (202-F/C-1999) replied with 20 points and 13 rebounds in a loss.
