Review of Day 1 in Buenos Aires

Belize - Brazil 106-102
Belize shocked Brazil at the start of their campaign in Argentina. Douglas Langford (203-C-2006) notched 28 points and 9 rebounds in the win. Belize secured a 53-47 halftime lead. They sank 30 points in the third stanza to boost the lead to 9 points. Brazil cut the deficit in the final quarter but could not avoid the loss at the end. Josiah Moseley (198-PF-2006) topscored with 31 points for Belize. Nolan Kemm (189-PG-2007) responded with 19 points for Brazil.

Argentina - USA 66-88
USA cruised past hosting Argentina in the opener. Darius Acuff (188-PG-2006) netted 22 points to lead the North American side. USA built a 44-31 halftime lead. They followed with a 26-13 rally in the fourth stanza to race to the victory. Christopher Brown produced 15 points for the winners. Tyler Kropp (204-PF-2007) replied with 15 points and 9 rebounds for Argentina.

Canada - Dominican Republic 77-79
Dominican Republic nipped Canada in Group A opener. Lucas Morillo (201-G-2007) stepped up with 19 points to lead the charge. Canada ensured a 35-30 halftime lead. But Dominican Republic sank 26 points in the fourth quarter to force overtime. They added 10 points in the extra period to eke out a narrow win. Felix Jorge (189-SG-2006) had 16 points in the victory. Tristan Beckford (196-SF-2006) answered with 12 points for Canada.

Venezuela - Puerto Rico 80-69
Venezuela opened win count at the tournament. They held off Puerto Rico in Group A action. Jeminson Marquez posted 24 points, 9 rebounds and 6 assists, while Estoyan Vargas (197-F-2006) contributed 19 points, 7 rebound and 5 assists for the winners. Alejandro Aviles (206-C/F-2006) came up with 17 points and 12 rebounds for Puerto Rico.
