The games at this stage are more interesting as they can be crucial for the final standings in Regular Season. Despite we already know who is stronger and who is weaker, there may be still last minute surprises and upsets. Here is the last round review presented by Job Market.

The most surprising game was a loss of top-ranked Astros (26-2) in Guadalajara on Sunday night. Hosts were rolled over by eleventh ranked Venados (6-24) 103-80. It ended at the same time the two-game winning streak of Astros. They outrebounded Astros 38-23 including 27 on the defensive glass. It was a good game for American guard Taylor Johnson (193-1994, college: Dartmouth) who led his team to a victory with 21 points, 7 rebounds and 7 assists. Canadian guard Devonte Bandoo (190-1996, college: Baylor) contributed with 29 points (on 11-of-13 shooting from the field) for the winners. Jamaican Tyran De Lattibeaudiere (195-1991, college: Lamar, agency: Network Sports International) answered with 16 points and 6 rebounds for Astros. Astros' coach gave up on the game allowing to play ten players seeing no chance for a win. Mazatlan maintains eleventh place with 6-24 record. Astros at the other side still keep top position with two games lost. Mazatlan are looking forward to face higher ranked Guaymas (#10) on the road in the next round and it will be quite challenging to get another victory. Astros will play against the league's second-placed Obregon (#2) where they are definitely not considered as a favorite in this game either.

Guaymas lost third consecutive game. They keep the tenth position with 20 games lost. Astros will play against league's second-placed Obregon in Ciudad Obregon in the next round and it will be for sure the game of the week. Guaymas will play at home against Mazatlan (#11) and it may be a tough game between close rivals.

Nojel Eastern came up with 21 points and 7 rebounds for Guaymas in the defeat. Both coaches used bench players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Astros maintains first place with 26-2 record. Guaymas lost third consecutive game. They keep the tenth position with 20 games lost. Astros will meet league's second-placed Obregon in the next round and it will be for sure the game of the week. Guaymas will play against Mazatlan (#11) and it may be a tough game between close rivals.

There were no big surprises in other games of round 21: Guaymas were beaten by Toros on the road 98-94. Bottom-ranked Mazatlan lost to Obregon on its own court 79-88. Obregon outscored Mazatlan in Ciudad Obregon 105-78.



Astros - Mazatlan 80-103

No shocking result in a game when seventh ranked Toros (14-16) beat 10th ranked Ostioneros de Guaymas (12-20) in Nuevo Laredo 98-94 on Sunday. Toros made 17-of-22 free shots (77.3 percent) during the game. The former international Gabriel Giron (192-1988) nailed a double-double by scoring 19 points, 12 rebounds and 5 assists for the winning side and American forward Michael Myers (206-1992, college: UMES, agency: Diamond Sports) accounted for 21 points (perfect from the field making all eight shots !!!). Five Toros players scored in double figures. American forward Max Agbonkpolo (206-2000, college: Montana St.) came up with 24 points and 6 rebounds and the other American import guard Nojel Eastern (198-1999, college: Purdue) added 19 points, 8 rebounds and 4 assists respectively for Guaymas in the defeat. Ostioneros de Guaymas' coach rotated ten players in this game, but that didn't help. Toros moved-up to sixth place. Guaymas lost third consecutive game. They keep the tenth position with 20 games lost. Toros will meet Los Mochis (#7) on the road in the next round. Guaymas will play against Mazatlan and it may be a tough game between close rivals.

Very expected game when 11th ranked Venados (6-24) lost to second ranked Halcones de Ciudad Obregon (20-12) in Mazatlan 79-88 on Tuesday. American players dominated the game. Forward Austin Trice (203-2000, college: ODU) nailed a double-double by scoring 27 points and 16 rebounds for the winning side and forward Tony Farmer (201-1994, college: Lee JC) accounted for 26 points and 10 rebounds. Center Dakota Quinn (206-1997, college: MNU) came up with a double-double by scoring 15 points and 11 rebounds and guard Taylor Johnson (193-1994, college: Dartmouth) added 12 points and 4 assists respectively for Mazatlan in the defeat. Four Obregon and five Mazatlan players scored in double figures. Obregon maintains second place with 20-12 record having two points less than leader Astros.
