Campo Alto - Colonias 65-92 Another interesting game was a derby match between two teams from Asuncion: Colonias (#3) and Campo Alto (#6). Campo Alto was smashed at home by 27 points 65-92 and even the fact of playing on their own court did not help. Colonias forced 20 Campo Alto turnovers. Their players were unselfish on offense dishing 23 assists. Campo Alto was plagued by 25 personal fouls down the stretch. It was a good game for Dominican Nehemias Morillo (197-1992, college: S.Florida) who led his team to a victory with 25 points, 8 rebounds and 6 assists. Juan Poison contributed with a double-double by scoring 12 points, 10 rebounds, 4 assists and 4 steals for the winners. Colonias' coach felt very confident that he used entire bench and allowed the starting five to rest. Argentinian point guard Mauro Gauna (186-1999) replied with 17 points, 9 assists and 6 steals and Yuri Rodriguez added 12 points and 12 rebounds in the effort for Campo Alto. Both teams had four players each who scored in double figures. Colonias maintains third position with 3-2 record having just three points less than leader San Jose. Campo Alto at the other side still closes the standings with five games lost. Colonias' supporters look forward to another derby game next round, where their team will face at home their local rival from Asuncion San Jose. (3-3) beat league's leader Olimpia K. (4-2) 91-85 on Wednesday evening. Libertad A. shot the lights out from three sinking 16 long-distance shots on high 53.3 percentage. The best player for the winners was the former international forward Adolfo Lopez (199-1989) who had a double-double by scoring 18 points and 16 rebounds. International point guard Jorge Martinez (178-1998) chipped in 14 points, 6 rebounds and 4 assists. At the other side the best for losing team was the former international center Guillermo Araujo (204-1982, agency: Pro Sports) who recorded 19 points and 6 rebounds and the former international forward Jorge Sequera (194-1988) added 14 points and 8 rebounds respectively. Both teams had five players each who scored in double figures. Both coaches used bench players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Libertad A. moved-up to fourth place. Olimpia K. at the other side dropped to the second position with two games lost. They were replaced at the leadership position by San Jose. Olimpia K. will play next round against Felix Perez trying to make it back to the top of the standings. It will be a derby game for which supporters look forward to, where their team will face at home their local rival from Asuncion - Felix Perez. Libertad A. will try to continue on its current victory against sixth ranked Campo Alto. It will be extra interesting game as Campo Alto is their local rival from Asuncion. Felix Perez was smashed at home by 23 points 76-99 and even the advantage of their own court did not help. It ended at the same time the two-game winning streak of Felix Perez. San Jose forced 20 Felix Perez turnovers. They looked well-organized offensively handing out 30 assists comparing to just 16 passes made by Felix Perez's players. Argentinian point guard Nicolas Paletta (179-1987) scored 13 points, 5 rebounds, 9 assists and 5 steals to lead the charge for the winners and Argentinian forward Franco Benitez (199-1994) chipped in 17 points and 5 rebounds during the contest. Four San Jose players scored in double figures. The best for the losing side was the former international guard Leandro Ferreira (184-1994) with 21 points and 6 assists and the former international swingman Jose Rolon (193-2000) scored 16 points and 5 rebounds. The winner was already known earlier in the game, so both coaches allowed to play the bench players saving starting five for next games. Defending champion (5-1) keeps a position of league leader. Loser Felix Perez dropped to the fifth place with four games lost. San Jose's supporters look forward to another derby game next round, where their team will travel locally in Asuncion to the arena Colonias.
