LNB Round 10 (Regular Season): Derby game ends with San Jose's defeat of Colonias

The most interesting game was a derby match between two local teams from Asuncion: San Jose (#3) and Colonias (#2). San Jose (8-1) won against visiting Colonias (7-2) 87-76. It ended at the same time the seven-game winning streak of Colonias. It was a key game for the second position in the league. San Jose had a 34-23 advantage in offensive rebounds. Worth to mention a great performance of Robin Perry who helped to win the game recording 16 points, 6 rebounds and 4 assists. The former international forward Gabriel Peralta (203-1995) contributed with 15 points for the winners. The former international center Juan Poisson (198-1998) replied with 19 points and 8 rebounds for Colonias. Colonias' coach Juan Bidarra rotated eleven players in this game, but that didn't help. Jose Dos Santos scored 15 points and 8 rebounds to lead the charge for the winners and Francisco Bogarin chipped in 12 points and 8 rebounds during the contest. Campo Alto's coach allowed to play the deep bench players saving starting five for next games. At the losing side the former international forward Jorge Sequera (194-1988) responded with 21 points, 7 rebounds and 5 assists. Campo Alto moved-up to fourth place, which they share with Felix Perez and Amambay. Ciudad N. at the other side keeps the seventh position with eight games lost. Campo Alto will play against Amambay (#6) in the next round. Ciudad N.'s supporters look forward to another derby game next round, where their team will face at home their local rival from Asuncion Colonias.

Even 23 points and 8 rebounds by Juan Luis Abeiro did not help to save the game for Felix Perez. Both coaches used bench players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Olimpia K. (9-1) have an impressive five-game winning streak. Defending champion maintains first position. Felix Perez lost third consecutive game. They keep the fourth place with six games lost. They share the position with Amambay and Campo Alto. No shocking result in a game when fifth ranked Amambay (4-6) crushed at home bottom-ranked San Alfonso (1-9) 108-68 on Wednesday. Amambay dominated down low during the game scoring 78 of its points in the paint compared to San Alfonso's 42. They outrebounded San Alfonso 61-36 including a 42-25 advantage in defensive rebounds. Amambay looked well-organized offensively handing out 22 assists. Eduardo Marques notched 42 points (!!!) and 11 rebounds to lead the effort and Osmar Do Amaral supported him with 19 points and 13 rebounds. Amambay's coach Ramon Baez felt very confident that he used entire bench which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Even 27 points, 7 rebounds and 4 assists by Maxsuel Urnau did not help to save the game for San Alfonso. Brazilian point guard Renan Santos (178-1993) added 18 points and 9 rebounds for lost side. Amambay moved-up to fourth place, which they share with Felix Perez and Campo Alto. San Alfonso lost eighth consecutive game. They stay at the bottom position with nine games lost. Amambay will meet Campo Alto (#5) in the next round. San Alfonso will play against Felix Perez and hope to win that game.
