The most important game in the last round took place in Juana Diaz between third ranked Explosivos (3-2) and tenth ranked Monarcas (1-5) on Sunday night. Explosivos were defeated by Monarcas in a tough game on the road 73-81. It ended at the same time the three-game winning streak of Explosivos. Great defensive blocking was one of the keys in this match when Monarcas made 11 blocks. Worth to mention a great performance of the former international center Imani McGee-Stafford (201-1994, college: Texas) who helped to win the game recording a double-double by scoring 17 points, 17 rebounds and 8 blocks. American forward Tess Amundsen (185-1999, college: CSUN) contributed with 18 points and 9 rebounds for the winners. Monarcas' coach used an eleven-player rotation which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Salvadorean guard Hillary Martinez (172-1997) replied with 21 points, 7 rebounds and 4 assists for Explosivos. Monarcas left bottom position moving up to ninth place, which they share with Cariduros. Defending champion Explosivos dropped to the fourth position with two games lost. They share it with Gigantes and Cangrejeras. Monarcas is again looking forward to face higher ranked Explosivos (#5) in Moca in the next round and it may be quite challenging game. Explosivos will have a break next round.
BSNF top team - Criollas (5-1) added another victory to their record. This time they beat eighth ranked Ganaderas (1-4) in Caguas 88-80. American players dominated the game. Worth to mention a quality performance of forward DreUna Edwards (183-2000, college: Baylor) who helped to win the game recording a double-double by scoring 19 points, 12 rebounds and 5 assists and Katie Villarini who added 19 points and 9 rebounds during the contest. At the losing side guard Sianni Martin (173-1996, college: UCF) responded with 25 points and 5 rebounds. Both coaches used bench players and allowed the starting five to rest. Criollas maintains first position with 5-1 record. Ganaderas lost fourth consecutive game. They keep the eighth place with four games lost. Criollas will again play against Ganaderas (#8) in the next round and are hoping to win another game. Ganaderas will play against Pollitas in Isabela to get more than just one victory in their record.
The game in Ponce was also quite interesting. Fourth ranked Pollitas (4-1) played at the court of 7th ranked Leonas (1-3). Pollitas managed to secure a 5-point victory 68-63 on Sunday. The winners were led by Nina De Leon who had that evening a triple-double by scoring 15 points, 14 rebounds and 10 assists. Even 17 points and 7 rebounds by Gabby Gregory did not help to save the game for Leonas. Both coaches tested many bench players in such tough game. Pollitas have a solid three-game winning streak. They moved-up to second place, which they share with Atenienses. Leonas lost third consecutive game. They keep the seventh position with three games lost. Pollitas will meet at home Ganaderas (#8) in the next round where they are favorite. Leonas will play again against Pollitas and hope to win that game.
In the last two games of round 4 Gigantes beat Cariduros on the road 65-63. Atenienses won against Cangrejeras on its own court 76-68.
The most impressive performance of 4th round was 32 points, 17 rebounds, 8 assists and 4 blocks by Shae Kelley of Cangrejeras.
