BSNF Round 2 (Regular Season): Carolina defeat Isabela

There were only 2 rounds played so far and it's still very beginning of the Regular Season in BSNF. Here is the last round review presented by LBM Management.

The most crucial game of the last round was a loss of Pollitas in Isabela on Tuesday night. Hosts were defeated by Gigantes 71-66. Carolina made 17-of-22 free shots (77.3 percent) during the game. They looked well-organized offensively handing out 22 assists. American forward Teana Muldrow (188-1995, college: WVU) orchestrated the victory with a double-double by scoring 21 points and 14 rebounds. The other American import guard Selena Lott (180-1999, college: Marquette) contributed with 12 points, 8 rebounds, 9 assists and 4 steals for the winners. American swingman Quionche Carter (183, college: FGCU) replied with a double-double by scoring 22 points, 12 rebounds, 5 assists and 4 steals for Isabela. Pollitas' coach tried various players' combinations and tested in total eleven players in this game, but that didn't help. Gigantes is looking forward to face Leonas in Ponce in the next round and it may be the game of the week. Pollitas will play against Yauco and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
Important game to mention about took place in Moca. Caguas saved a 2-point victory on the road edging Moca 88-86 on Wednesday evening. American players dominated the game. Guard Katie Villarini (165, college: Buffalo St.) scored 24 points and 5 rebounds to lead the charge for the winners and Kai James chipped in 17 points and 12 rebounds during the contest. Power forward Alexis Jennings (190-1996, college: S.Carolina) responded with 24 points and 9 rebounds. Both coaches used bench players in such tough game. Caguas will play against Santurce at home in the next round and are hoping to win another game. Moca will have a break next round.
Very important is a home loss of Cangrejeras against Yauco on Tuesday night. Host Cangrejeras were defeated by Yauco in a tough game in Santurce 67-76. American players dominated also this game. Sierra Moore notched a double-double by scoring 17 points, 15 rebounds and 4 assists to lead the effort. Even 22 points, 7 rebounds and 6 assists by Shae Kelley did not help to save the game for Santurce. Yauco will meet at home Isabela in the next round. Cangrejeras will play against Caguas and hope to win that game.

In the last game of round 2 winless Manati lost to undefeated Leonas on the road 78-82.
The most impressive performance of 2nd round was 23 points and 6 rebounds by Taya Corosdale of Leonas.

Santurce - Yauco 67-76

Very important is a home loss of Cangrejeras against Yauco on Tuesday night. Host Cangrejeras were defeated by Yauco in a tough game in Santurce 67-76. They outrebounded Santurce 49-35 including a 37-24 advantage in defensive rebounds. American players dominated also this game. Guard Sierra Moore (180-1994, college: Penn State) notched a double-double by scoring 17 points, 15 rebounds and 4 assists to lead the effort and power forward Sidney Cooks (193-1998, college: Seton Hall) supported her with 17 points, 5 rebounds and 5 assists. Four Yauco players scored in double figures. Even 22 points, 7 rebounds and 6 assists by forward Shae Kelley (185-1991, college: Minnesota) did not help to save the game for Santurce. Forward Oshlynn Brown (185, college: Rutgers) added 17 points and 9 rebounds for the hosts. Yauco will meet at home Isabela in the next round. Cangrejeras will play against Caguas and hope to win that game.

Power forward Alexis Jennings (190-1996, college: S.Carolina) responded with 24 points and 9 rebounds and guard Leigha Brown (185-2000, college: Michigan) scored 25 points and 4 assists. Four Caguas and five Moca players scored in double figures. Both coaches used bench players in such tough game. Caguas will play against Santurce at home in the next round and are hoping to win another game. Moca will have a break next round.

Leonas - Manati 82-78

The game between closely ranked teams ended with Leonas' home victory over Atenienses in Ponce 82-78 on Wednesday. American guard Talia von Oelhoffen (180-2002, college: USC, agency: Next Page Sports) notched a double-double by scoring 17 points, 11 rebounds and 8 assists to lead the effort and naturalized American guard Ariel Colon (178, college: FIU) supported her with 20 points, 8 rebounds and 5 assists. Even 17 points and 8 rebounds by American guard Kiyana McGill-Jefferson (185-2001, college: Louisville) did not help to save the game for Manati. The former international point guard Pamela Rosado (165-1986) added 15 points and 10 rebounds for the guests. Both teams had four players each who scored in double figures. Atenienses' coach let to play ten players, but that didn't help to avoid defeat in this game. Leonas will meet at home Carolina in the next round where they are favorite. Atenienses will have a break next round.
