Leader Pollitas delivered the fourth win on Tuesday night. This time they beat 6th ranked Monarcas (1-2) 84-73 in Isabela. The game was dominated by American players. The best player for the winners was guard Lasha Petree (183, college: Purdue) who scored 29 points and 9 rebounds. Swingman Quionche Carter (183, college: FGCU) chipped in 27 points, 5 rebounds and 4 assists. Guard Gabby Gregory (180, college: Kansas St., agency: Next Page Sports) produced 27 points and 6 rebounds for the guests. Pollitas have a solid series of four victories in a row. Isabela maintains first place with 4-1 record. Newly promoted Monarcas dropped to the seventh position with two games lost. They share it with Caguas. Isabela are looking forward to face league's second-placed Santurce on the road in the next round and it will be for sure the game of the week. Monarcas will play against Caguas (#7) and it may be a tough game between close rivals.

In the last two games of round 5 Carolina defeated Moca in a road game 78-71. Yauco beat Leonas at home 81-72.

We cannot really consider it an upset in the game between close teams when 4th placed Moca (2-2) was defeated at home by fifth ranked Gigantes (3-2) 78-71 on Wednesday. Carolina shot the lights out from three sinking 18 long-distance shots on high 51.4 percentage. The best player for the winners was American guard Selena Lott (180-1999, college: Marquette) who scored 21 points, 7 rebounds and 6 assists. American-Jordanian guard Aisha Sheppard (175-1998, college: Virginia Tech) chipped in 27 points. American center Samantha Fuehring (191-1997, college: Louisville) produced 18 points and 8 rebounds and Salvadorean Hillary Martinez (172-1997) added 14 points, 5 rebounds and 7 assists respectively for the hosts. Both teams had four players each who scored in double figures. Carolina moved-up to third place. Moca at the other side dropped to the fifth position with two games lost. Both teams do not play next round, which will be an opportunity for some rest.

There was a small surprise when ninth ranked Yauco (2-3) defeated at home 7th ranked Leonas (1-3) 81-72 on Wednesday. Yauco looked well-organized offensively handing out 28 assists. The game was also dominated by American players. The best player for the winners was power forward Sidney Cooks (193-1998, college: Seton Hall) who scored 20 points, 7 rebounds and 4 assists. Guard Sierra Moore (180-1994, college: Penn State) chipped in 18 points, 6 rebounds and 5 assists (on 8-of-9 shooting from the field). Guard Talia von Oelhoffen (180-2002, college: USC, agency: Next Page Sports) produced a double-double by scoring 11 points and 13 assists and center Shelby Cheslek (196-1992, college: Gonzaga, agency: LBM Management) added 14 points and 10 rebounds respectively for the guests. Four Yauco and five Leonas players scored in double figures. Yauco moved-up to sixth place. Leonas lost third consecutive game.
