with 15 points to pace the champions. The teams stayed neck and neck throughout
the first frame. The scoreboard read 14:14 after the opening stanza. Brazil eked
out a 28:27 halftime lead. The teams continued to trade baskets throughout the
third term. Brazil ensured a narrow 42:40 lead at the final intermission. They
held Argentina to just 7 points in the fourth stanza and claimed the title.Clarissa Dos Santos(187-C-88) posted 11
points and 18 rebounds, whileTaina Paixao(176-G-91) added 9 points

Venezuela - Chile72-54
Venezuela stepped onto the pedestal in Ambato. They knocked down Chile in the
consolation final and conquered the Bronze medals.Yosimar Corrales(184-F/C-90) stepped up
with 26 points to pace the winners. Chile gained a 17:15 lead after the opening
quarter. Venezuela stiffened defensively in the second frame. They pulled ahead
for a 28:26 halftime lead. Venezuela held their opponents to just 9 points in
the third period and opened a comfortable 11-point buffer before the fourth
frame. Venezuela dropped 26 points in the final stanza and sealed the winning
outcome.Ivaney Marquez(177-SF-83, college:Grayson County CC) contributed 17 points, while Roselis Silva added 10 points for
the winners.Ziomara Morrison(193-C-89, agency:LBM Management) responded with game-high 36 points and 13 boards for Chile.
Barbara Cousino had 11 points in the loss.

Paraguay - Ecuador68-71 OT
Ecuador victoriously capped their South American Championship campaign. The
hosts defeated Paraguay to clinch the fifth overall position at the tournament.Dayana Salcedo(177-F/G-90) finished
with 23 points and 10 rebounds to pace the winning side. Paraguay took a 19:14
lead ten minutes into the game. Ecuador cut the deficit and eventually spurred
ahead for a 35:31 halftime lead. Paraguay stayed within striking distance
throughout the third quarter. They trailed by just two points heading into the
fourth quarter. Paraguay erased the deficit in the next period and forced
overtime. But Ecuador sank 10 points in the extra period and got away with a
narrow win at the end.Rossana Pazmino(178-F-91) netted 18
points, while Anabel Barahona contributed 8 points for the winners.Carolina Caraves(177-F/C-92) answered with 14 points for Paraguay.Maria Mercado(163-PG-89) delivered 12
points and 7 rebounds in the loss.
7-8 Place
Uruguay - Peru70-57
Uruguay earned the first victory in Ambato. They defeated Peru in the final game
of the championship to claim the seventh overall position.Sabina Bello(175-G-89) came up with 14
points. Uruguay ensured a 16:12 lead ten minutes into the encounter. Peru
narrowed the gap in the second frame. They trailed by just two points at the
interval 30:28. Uruguay maintained the lead throughout the third quarter. They
entered the fourth period up by three points 42:39. Uruguay unloaded 28 points
in the final frame and sealed the winning outcome. Maria Pereyra had 12 points,
while Florella Martinelli andFlorencia Somma(175-G-88) added 11 points each for the winners.Maria Plasencia(175-G-94, college:Redlands CC) responded with 19 points for Peru. Daniela Porras tossed in 18 points in
the defeat.
